To continue on the subject which brought this thread, it's been 5 days now and Gaia Kava Root pills still don't produce any effect on me. I contacted Gaia and they replied :

« I would say that Kava Kava is not suited to your constitution / imbalance….. Kava Kava should take effect within one to three days, however, this herb is not effective for everyone. More time is unlikely to produce different results. The best approach would be for you to consult with a naturopathic doctor through www.naturopathic.org or an herbalist through www.americanherbalistsguild.com for an evaluation and recommendations… »

That's not exactly a good news to me because I was expecting a lot from Kava. What do you think guys and what do you advise me to do ?

They are wrong, Alcohol may not be everyone's treat but no one can escape the biochemical onslaught, no one.It may simply be to weak, I suggest drinking kava, I always do.
physiologically the mechanism of kava will have effect, it has to, sedatives sedate people, sometimes they can stimulate, either way they do something. Suggesting that it does nothing and it's not for you makes no sense medically nor logically.
Try the kava powder.

There are a lot of good kava products out there, candy, extract, instant, maybe even pills...but there is something about kava root that you just can't put into a pill. Get some root, get your hands wet. There is no other experience like enjoying a bowl of kava that you learned how to brew up yourself.

It took me many weeks of drinking kava (3 times per week) to really feel it. I have no idea how many pills I'd have had to swallow to feel it, but 3 days worth? Nowhere close I think. If I were you, I'd finish the pills (hopefully getting past the reverse tolerance in the process) and then buy a bag of decent root powder.

I was taking 4 pills twice a day for a couple weeks before I noticed anything.

I would finish the bottle and just up the dose. I probably went through 10-15 bottles before I started drinking.

At its best Gaia pills helped with anxiety and stress some, but it's like 10% of what the drink can do for you.

Drinking kava has fully alleviated all anxiety and stress for me. It also replaces my muscle relaxer and some pain meds too, it's truly incredible stuff. My friends and family are honestly sick of me talking about how it has changed my life.

Right, I think I' now converted to powder ! I'll finish the pills and switch to the real thing. The only problem is I'm in UK. Anyone of you guys knows where I could easily buy powder from here ? You mentioned a few brands, could you finish helping me by giving direct links to specific products ? Would be super cool.

Most decent root powder vendors such as Paradise Kava, KavaByRex, Bula Kava House, and Nakamal@Home seem to be based in the states. I've ordered several times from Ireland and have had no problems, I believe that buying from the UK is pretty hassle-free also.

Gaia is just covering their legal bases. You cannot blame a multi million dollar company for doing that. We on the other hand, want you to find your kava soul mate :)

Try Powder, try a high Kavain powder (my favorite!) or try a light powder (Fijian, Tongan)

Finally, stay clear of any solvent based extracts. A new clinical paper being released out of U of Minnesota will prove this shortly ( we know because the NIH - National Institute of Health granted them half a Million, and they used our kava products as specimens. Our Patent Pending Kava Extracts are the only one of their kind in the US and International Markets).

The word is that solvent based extracts do cause some damage (just not sure what and how much since the paper is not released. We got a heads up, that's it)

Overall, there are no pills which are worth it, and no tinctures which are worth it. I say this because our company tried to get into both these markets because of their lucrative nature and we backed out both times since it's either ineffective (putting coarse kava powder in caps) or harmful (tinctures which are 30% + grain alcohol usually)

Hope that helps, if you need any other information, reply to this post and we'll do our best~

Cheers!
