Gas?

Seriously, gas. Ever since I started imbibing The Root, I've found myself farting up a storm. Does anyone else have this problem and, if so, what do you do to alleviate it? It's embarrassing, to say the least.

Absolutely.
I am surprised the topic doesn't come up much more often on the forum. You have broken the ice, or maybe the wind, on the subject.

For me, I never had any wind issues from years of drinking fresh green kava. But start drinking the dry kava trad prep, and I'm doing more damage to the ozone layer than a field full of dairy cows.

Have you used any forms of milk with extracting the kava#?
I had that issue when I first tried a milk based extraction, turns out I'm lactose intolerant, since the switch up to using almond milk, gas hasn't been an issue with kava, unless I eat vegetables after I had a few shells

You could try goat milk?

I don't use milk, I use warm water. I think it's probably from plant material making its way through the strainer (an old t-shirt). It's not horrible, and they're not stinky farts, but they're....LOUD, lol.

Well if you're using an old t-shirt, maybe try upgrading the strainer? Fijian strainers are great. Micronized and poorly strained kava seems to be the main cause of GI issues for me

Wait, what??? Girls don't fart... I'm confused. :)

Kava definitely breaks *something* loose. Every time I drink kava, it's not so much the gas,
but *everything* in the pipe deciding it's time to vacate the premises. Once that happens,
things settle down.

I think it's just part of the deal with kava - it's the fiber, to the best of my knowledge.

There are ways to minimize it though. Personally I find restricting dairy and carbs works, and drinking plenty of water. I don't get too bad of gas when I'm eating meat or fat with kava...
