Hi all, I'm unsure if this is the correct place to post an introduction. I didn't see a specific intro forum, and I just wanted to say hello.
So hello.
A bit about myself, I first drank kava back in the summer of 2008. At that time, I was in the United States Marine Corps, and stationed in Baghdad, Iraq. There were many Tongan Marines also stationed at this same base. I thank them for introducing me to the magical plant that is piper methysticum. I certainly had several fun nights with these men. Once I left Iraq, I also left Kava. I am unsure as to why I didn't keep consuming it?!?!
Fast forward four years to last year, late 2012, I decide to begin drinking Kava again, mostly to combat stress, and relax at the end of the day. Man, I forgot how wonderful this medicinal plant will treat you! Since then I have learned to love this drink just as much as I did when drinking with the Tongan Marines. I'd say that my favorite strain is either Tongan Pride or Fiji Waka Grade from Kava by Rex. I have tried other distributors, but I find KBR to be very difficult to beat for the price.
Anyhow, it is very difficult to find other kava drinkers. In fact, I don't actually know any. I have tried to introduce a couple of friends, and while they thought the effects were nice, they didn't want to drink it again. I even tried introducing my wife, who thought it tasted the way it looks, like muddy water. I must agree the taste can be quite powerful and bitter.
So the lack of fellow kava drinkers brings me to this forum. I have scoped this place out in the past, and it appears to be made up of people knowledgable and passionate about this wonderful plant. I hope to get to know everyone here, and to provide valuable knowledge in the future.
