Herbal Island 10:1 Extract

Hi all, first post with a question. So far I've tried capsules from the health food store (several brands and strengths) to decent affect. I more recently ordered some powdered root of Amazon.CA and that was fun. I tried a few different ways of preparing using a blender or nylon. Those were all quite strong and enjoyable.

Just today my latest purchase arrived. It's Herbal Island 10:1 Extract instant kava. I was excited to try a new one, bit the instant I opened it, I was confused. There's absolutely no kava peppery smell. I mixed up a teaspoon in milk and drank it back. It almost tasted like chocolate or cinnamon, no mouth numbing effects at all. That was about 30 minutes ago and no noticeable effect so far.

So questions:
1. Has anyone tried this brand and what was the experience in terms of taste/effects?
2. Is it normal for instant powders to not actually taste like kava?

Thanks.

Absolutely normal. I ordered a good amount of kava extract(powdered form) from a company called topextracts.com . The smell and look is exactly the same as you described. It was marketed as 70% kavalactones. When I tried it, I had not experienced anything other than yogi tea previously. At the time, I thought it was doing its job(relaxing, stress relieving etc) but now that I have tried TRUE kava(from reputable vendors like GHK and BKH) I realize that this was a mere placebo effect. Please try to get ahold of some micronized or medium grind root, the difference will blow your mind. Also, there are many companies who will test your product, to find out what is actually In it. I know that @Deleted User does testing. Maybe he could help you out... But I'm sure that that is subjective to what country you're located in. Either way, until you TRULY know what is in it, I wouldn't recommend drinking it. Better safe than sorry.... Hope this helped man. Good luck!

Yeah okay a 10 to 1 extract instant ?
Okay so I assume they grind up the product to a micro level makas and all ... then they prolly just use alcohol extracted kava in the ratio of 10 grams of kava worth in extract dropped and dried onto 1 gram of micronized kava.... ultimately no matter what it should still taste like kava... you both likely got some really crappy crap

Your instant powders should still taste like kava. Technically I haven't had a kava product that worked that didn't taste like it in some way, even if remotely.

I talked with the vendor and they are apparently going to refund my money. So hopefully that happens. They said that sometimes it "loses potency" over time and that's probably what happened. I didn't argue.

Sounds like they got them a nonsucka. Better refund before he tells everyone. Oops too late (y)

I have bought that kava more than once hoping it was a bad batch. Idk how he stays in business because that is not kava and has no effect
