How is the Kumakua?

Hi everyone, I wanted to know how you all like the Kumakua? Do you want me to harvest some more to keep it in stock for a while?

Hi Chris, I usually just lurk here on the forum but I have to give my opinion on this. I've been drinking kava for almost a year now and Kumakua is my absolute favorite to date. Mo'i was my top choice until now, but for me Kumakua seems gentler on the stomach and even headier than Mo'i. My husband enjoys Kumakua too, he calls it "top shelf" kava. I'm on my third pound (expecting some in the mail today and looking forward to 5:00 ). Thanks for all you do in the kava community and your commitment to growing and selling quality noble kava.

looks like the kumukua coupon expired. was thinking about getting papa kea (which I like a lot) or trying Hiwa (never tried). What's the difference bettwen the two. How is the kumukua micro vs. Moi micro?

I just finished a pound. Good stuff! The taste was very mild if that matters to someone. Very heady, good social kava. I mentioned earlier I drank a bunch of it before a memorial service and it made it quite tolerable.

How does Kumakua comapre to Mahakea?

To me, Mahakea is more sedating or even balanced. Kumakua is a totally heady daytime kava. Just gulped one 10 mins ago and working away at the office. One feature is that it is very light in color with almost no taste. So it's like Mo'i with no taste. So here the thing about daytime kavas, by the time you it's bedtime, you are totally worn out. The kava does do that and you will sleep fine. I have never taken a heady kava at night unless I was going to a social gathering with lots of grab handing and where I didn't intend to drink alcohol. It puts that permanent smile on your face like the one you see in my avatar.

I just decided to highlight some important parts here.
Is that supposed to be "By the time it's your bedtime"? That must be some good stuff.

@ThePiper, there are 13 documented Hawaiian Kavas and a new one they are testing. They are calling the new one Orange for now. It would be nice if @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava (Chris) had a Kava of the Month club where you receive one of the 13 every month. Regardless of whether that Kava suits your or not, I think everyone should make it a point to try each one. It's an Ethnobotanical Treasure and it's also American. Plus it's a lot of fun trying new stuff. That being said, I'm getting a hankering for some Mapulehu. Mildly sedating, light in color, with almost no taste. Along the same lines as Nene but I remember it being more sedating. But that was a few years back.

I totally agree. It's our American duty to try all of Chris's kavas. Seriously, I like the kava of the month idea.

I'm halfway through my first pound of Kumakua and really enjoying it. Seems to give me a love for details, whether when reading a book or mowing the lawn, the details really matter. While doing yardwork I found myself admiring a tree in my yard I had no more than glanced at in the past. One time I recall looking over at my son playing video games on the couch and being struck at how much he's grown and how proud I am of him. Just very crystalized appreciation and honesty flows from Kumakua for me. So, yes. More please.

As for the variety Chris offers, I agree they all should be tried. To date I have had Mahakea, Papa Kea, and Kumakua. All were very different in effects, though identical in perfect quality. I am getting ready to place an order as a birthday present to myself and am planning to try three new kavas: Honokane Iki, Pana Ewa, and (the unfairly maligned in another forum) Hanakapi Ai. I know that selection ranges from heady to balanced to heavy, but the confidence I have in GHK quality makes those unknown effects a positive adventure with no undue risk. Let the adventure begin!!

Put it this way drink this kava occasionally is Okay but every day definitely not it reminds me very much honokane iki very mellow does mean is not good kava it just my experience ,I'm more towards peppery and heavy kava ,like yellow kava also I'm always kind to try your new kava, so far hanakapi is my favourite choice of your Hawaii Kava.
