You know, there was one time when Officer Holley (Dept. Land and Natural Resources) and I went to a certain part of this state forest in Puna. We were looking for the old Hawaiian Awa to put the micro chips inside. The thing was that there was some hunters that were held at gun point and tied up, this was done by the awa poachers. We went in very cautiously and we were armed, this was a tense situation at the time.
There were a lot of awa theft, thankfully we never came across the gun toting awa poachers.
Aloha.

I have 3 friends that grow in Vanuatu (one commercially) - Efate and Pentecost - and all have had their crops ripped off at 3-4 years old. All the plants were hidden away a long distance from a road. Its getting to be almost like leaving a field full of nice looking unlocked mountain bikes in the open, and expecting them to be there in a few days time.

@nabanga, @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava made reference to microchips being part of the answer but I don't know how much that costs or how practical that is. I guess Kava is worth it's weight in gold in some places. From looking at the pictures of Chris and his workers harvesting kava, it takes a lot of effort to harvest one without leaving the potent lateral roots in the ground. I guess Kava rustling is still alive and doing well.
It is interesting to note that we got the funding for the microchips from the Dept of Defense. How cool is that.
Aloha.

I heard it on good authority at a Kava Bar that you got those Microchips from the Russians. Now you have to prove to me that they came from the DOD. Bwah, hah, hah, hah .... :sneaky:
Oh no, now the jig is up and now they will start saying I get my kava from Russia, pre micro chipped of course. :ROFLMAO:
The DOD wanted to see about kava helping the solders with stress relief, this is how they got involved with the AHA and the HAC.
Aloha.
