Anyone else have slight irritability at certain things during a kava session? I've noticed lately that loud noises or anything that intrudes on my space has made me quite irritable (while drinking kava). Not sure if this is normal, or perhaps I'm drinking too much coffee during the day beforehand, which I know can also contribute to that...

@Jonathan, that is normal to be aggravated by light, noise, or hyperactive spouses during and after a Kava session. I really have to hold my tongue when she comes up stairs and wants "to talk". Hell, we had all day for that (I'm thinking). But the latest gossip just came off Facebook and I must listen.

Depends on which strain and dose but yeah I agree with @Deleted User01 I don't want to hear about facebook its why I deleted mine long ago but wife just wants something to talk about so I listen and pretend to be somewhat interested but not too much in hopes that shell stop but I don't come off rude

Yes, totally, especially at higher doses. Unwanted noises, bright lights, phone calls, nagging spouses, demanding children...

Right on, glad to know it's fairly common... I was wondering if maybe I was just an a**hole. ;) But seriously, I think I might be having a little too much kava during my sessions, I'm going to experiment with backing off a little...

In general I find that kava for the most part greatly decreases my assholeishness quotient. At high doses, like I said, those things may seem more irritating, but my response to the irritation is more likely to be to retreat to bed rather than to lash out, yell, act like an asshole.

Yeah I really find myself more irritated than normal when it comes to silly stuff like loud noise or crazy kiddo. The big shit that I've been losing sleep over drifts away on the breeze after a few shells however.

Yup same here...normaly I dont drink kava in the mornings (work) or in afternoons.. (kid) lol...
But the few times I have on a weekend it came back to bite me in the ass!
If im feeling great and my kid start throwing a fit with the high pitch screams..and crying..and hitting ect...ya...it ruins the momment know doubt...
I do feel that I am more calm to deal with the situation but I certainly get more irrated quicker while drinking kava around loud noises and such...

It's normal. Like someone else said, it will make your big problems (that you probably shouldn't be worrying about anyway) go away but the little stuff will be really annoying. It's not like taking a benzo where the world around you could be coming to an end and you won't care. You're always very much aware of your surroundings when you drink Kava.

This happened to me with krat. It's a side effect of pain relief if that makes sense. When you numb anything. And kava only does it extreme in certain chemotypes and dosage. But it can make little things irratable. Same exact thing.

Irritability comes rarely, but always in a 20 minute chunk, where I'm almost an hour into my session and I get irritable at people talking to me, loud noises, basically anything that requires me to think or act. It goes away, though, and I become very open and talkative and interested.

All i can say is "thank god I never got married"
When you say "I'm not married" people look at you like there's something wrong w/ya... or feel "pity" for you.
Then I read responses like these & think to myself..... they just want me to suffer along with them... I win :)
