Kava Question

Hi all,
I bought high quality kava and tried it twice in the last week. I had two different experiences and I'd like to ask you about the possible causes. At the first time the dosage was 10 grams per person mixed in a blender with low fat milk. (for about 10 minutes) The effects were strong and satisfying.
The second time was 4 days later and although the preparing method was quite similar the effects were dissapointing. The dosage was the same, but I also added a little sugar and cocoa powder. I mixed it in a kitchen chopper (it works similar to the blender) for about 10 minutes. It had slight effect I hardly felt anything.
Can you help me? What could be the problem?
Thanks

Maybe you drank the Kava on a fuller stomach. Give yourself at least two hours after a meal before you dip into the Kava. It works dramatically better on an emptier stomach...the emptier the better!

I agree with Bert, I don't think any of your prep changes changed the potency.

Kava can be weird like that regardless of when you eat. But I agree that's the most likely explanation.

^------ I agree with this. I can be on a 6 hour empty stomach and get beautifully slammed by kava sometimes...and then the next day or the next week, I can be on a 6 hour empty stomach again, drink the same prep. and not have anything near the same experience. ....the sedation/lethargy usually seems to find me either way though...so I suppose it's the euphoric mental effects that are the most fickle.

I agree that the state of your stomach is the most likely explanation. Another is your mental state at the time of consumption. If you take kava at a time you are running round, concentrating on doing stuff, you might find it has less effect than if you drink up and relax.

I have also found that the same amount of alcohol can have wildly different effects. Some days it just doesn't seem to register. Yet the next day the same amount could put me too intoxicated to drive. However this is no longer a problem for me because I rarely drink much alcohol these days. Kava is king. :D
