My wife was the same initially, though maybe not to the same extreme. Now she's come around, and tonight we're actually going over to her mother's to introduce her to kava. That only happened when she started trying it for herself. Kava Candy was basically the gateway I used to get her into it, now I let her smell the kavas when we get a new one, and she likes to try the different ones out. She's not in love with the stuffy, but she'll have a few shells with me every now and then, she gets it now. 

... and I got Kava: The Pacific Elixer from my local library, surprisingly.

i'm gonna pick that book up, study it, and then hold a family meeting. I'm gonna use that video as well as supportive argument that Kava is good and i'm not simply trying to get smashed on "yet another drug/herb"...well, maybe I am, but the point being it's better than the alternative!

Survey sounds great! Would you share the results with us after? (I really like statistics. I know they can be manipulated and all that, but I like them anyway.)

I feel for you man. Everybody has a vice. And I mean everybody. Even things that aren't drugs that some people have as vices are drugs for them because it causes certain chemicals in the brain to be released. So in a sense, everyone does drugs, some are just produced by our own brains. Sounds like your wife just needs to focus more on your happiness and health (it's better than alcohol or snow) and a little less on what her vision of a "normal" person is.

I certainly will Katiedid. I'm trying to get it approved a week early. It may not be exactly the kind of survey I was hoping for but there were some really good ideas in this thread I want to see if I can get approved.

**UPDATE**
The topic is unofficially approved. I still have to wait to the 27th to turn in the paper work and make it official but I can start noting down questions until then.

Cheap shot on my part, but it's true that every Australian I've met (as tourists in various northerly places), has very much liked to knock a few back.

I drink way to much alcohol. I do it to ease my anxiety however I know my life will be very bleak if I continue to drink at this rate. That's one of the reasons I'm turning to Kava.
