Kava syrup blues

I've got 'em! I have made many attempt to create a micronized kava syrup using several different recipes (including the one at kavalibrary), but I have never produced anything remotely resembling "syrup". I do get a tasty non-viscous fluid that is fairly potent and mixes well for kava cocktails, so I'm wondering if that's what I'm supposed to get? Syrup to me implies high viscosity, but maybe it's just a misnomer? Any insights the community can share would be most appreciated!
