Looking for something new - more "recreational" but still awesome!

Hi everyone,

I love Mo'i. Now I'm curious to branch out and try something radically different, but awesome in it's own way.

I'm thinking something that's more recreational, that you really feel in your body, physically, that's really epic in that regard. Good for relaxing in the evening, body high. A completely different direction from Mo'i, if you will, which I view as more medicinal.

So far I've tried the following but they aren't what I'm after:
  • Nene: it's good but mostly just puts me to sleep. I can't recreate if I'm too drowsy!
  • Boroguru: I thought this was supposed to be the king of "heavy" Kava strains but honestly it seemed very similar to Mo'i. I'm looking for something further out.
  • Opihikao: I wasn't as much a fan of this one - it was similar to Mo'i but just didn't seem as "clean."
Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

Try GHKs Papa Kea. From what I hear it's a heavy hitter. Other than that, Nakamal @ Home's Wow! Kava.

How about Malekula Magic, that's a nice relaxing kava that's got enough heavy notes to it but won't send you to sleep too quickly. I find Pentecost Pride really good but the Kavasseur has reviewed it and doesn't rate it. I find PP very euphoric and happy kava.

I find mo'i and ones similar to it to be the most recreational because they have the least body effect, sedation and nausea.

If you want something that's similar to mo'i but offers some extra 'spaciness', I'd suggest BoroNgoro from kalm, Borogu from BKH or maybe GHKs mahakea.

If you just wanna go polar opposite of Mo'i, I'd say N@H's WOW! ...or otherwise you'd have to sample a Tudei like Koniak.

I'd try Squanch's kava, very good and very heady and KWK Pouni ono

OK thank you everyone, good suggestions. I was hoping to stick with GHK, I guess.

I've heard good things about Papa Kea from a few sources now - heard it has effects similar to tudei, but it's noble?

Not really like tudei but has a bit more going on than Mo'i...Mo'i is strongly one-sided.

Yeah I would say hanakapi, hiwa and papa kea are the heaviest of the GHKs... technically piper wichmanni (wild kava) to noble kava is a story of heavy to heady... in a sense..
Tuedi really can't be heady as far as I've come to know..
And even the heaviest nobles have some heady effects, I find especially at lower doses.
But ultimately it seems it was an evolution of more benevolent kavalactones... less DHK and DHM and more kavain, methysticum ect... Im just theorizing right now I could he wrong but that's how I think of it

If you r gonna stick with GHk, try the Hanakapi' ai, it is by far the most interesting kava, it is the only kava I have tried from GHK (I've tried them all) That had noticeable effects the days after...The Papa kea from him is noble, all his kavas are.

Well, I don't know if the day-after effect is the goal, but that's good to know. I wonder what alkaloids in the plant extend the half-life like that.

How would you compare the Hanakapa'ai and the Papa Kea?

I can't help with those strains as I can't get a lot of GHK stuff here in the UK but when people are talking about the next day effect I can really relate to that. Most kavas can give you a good mellow effect the next day but some seem to linger longer than others. I find especially if I have been drinking kava every day for a while sometimes I can wake up, feel fine, go to work, go about my day and then just find that I have a lovely warm happy feeling inside and I'll be smiling about nothing in particular. I have had kava hangovers, mostly from dehydration, and this is definitely not the same. It's nothing to be scared of.
