Mahakea?

Last night I tried micronized Mahakea from GHK. Would this have caused trouble falling asleep? Will the Moi and Nene probably do the same?

Not really. Mahakea is a rather balanced kava. It's not necessarily a sedating "hammer", but I've never ever had any problems falling asleep after a Mahakea session. In fact, I usually get very restful, deep sleep after Mahakea. It's a beautiful and strong kava. But if you need something more sedating then go for Nene or Boroguru.

I think its best not to have the kava too close to bedtime if possible, if you have a couple hours between i think it works best.

I would agree with both the above responses. Only time kava affects me sleep negatively is if i drink too much before bed and wake to urinate in the night

Check out the coa on GHK website to see the most updated version of the strain... kava is a plant and it changes with the weather ect. Kavalactones and all..

Go through them and look at the chemotypes of that particular batch... the last one tested was Sept 26. Boroguru oddly enough has more Yangonin than mahakea and moi.... and not oddly enough boroguru has been stimulating me more than mahakea and moi recently... Yangon in is what causes insomnia in my experience so make sure you don't drink ANY variety to close to bed but make sure the kava you have also doesn't have a high 3 .

Well, it finally happened last night. I undoubtedly broke through RT. I had no doubt it happened. Oddly enough it happened with GHK's Mahakea. I fixed cup and a half of water with 3 TBS Mahakea Micronized. Drank three servings about 20 minutes apart. The sleepiness seemed to last until I had my coffee this morning I'm so excited! Yesterday I ordered two new strains. Feels very good!

I'm a weirdo, the Mahakea and HIWA amps me up and won't let me sleep. I just have to be careful when I drink it and chase it with a sleepy root. Intense!

I've heard smaller night time doses are better for inducing sleep?.....meanwhile I can see I've got a lot to learn from you guys!

Yes, one of the main reasons I drink root every evening is to sleep well and wake up refreshed. I call it liquid REM. I have run down to the kitchen on a sleepless night and slammed a shell to get back to bed.

I found that the mahakea put me to sleep short term, but then I'd wake up and be awake for the rest of the night.

There is a paradox with some varieties. It can make me heavy and tired.... And keep me awake. This effect can occasionally just happen for some reason unbeknownst to me. This is why I finish kava 3-4 hours before I want to be asleep. Finishing kava before dinner helps with my sleep schedule even more. Btw I love Mahakea. Mo'i-hakea is my favorite blend as well. (Equal parts mix)
