Making Waka last

Peace and love
Hello,
I am new to kava lifestyle, I have tried it a number of times I'm the past, but recently am just getting beyond RT. It's been quite nice so far but there is no local community here for me to enjoy the benefits of kava with. I thought perhaps this forum would be an asset. I've been blending my kava 3tbsp to 1.5 cups water and .5 cups milk the straining through a gold mesh tea strainer, and it seems to be working well, no huge buzz, but it's definitely effecting me positively which has been a nice change from the traditional drink a few beers when you get home mentality. Just wonder what some favorite brands are, and what some economical options are to keep costs in check? Also does anyone know if wakacon kava Waka is noble or tudei? I don't have any way to do an acetone test presently.

hey there Y'shua, welcome to the forum!
i have to recommend Chris' company: Gourmet Hawaiian Kava. best kava i've had, all certified noble, many wonderful varieties to choose from, and an incredibly kind and knowledgable fellow at the helm. i LOVE the mahakea for its well rounded effect profile and the papa kea is the most effective muscle/brain relaxer that i have ever ingested. i have not tried the Moi but many folks on this board find it to be a perfect "get up and go" kava: good energy and anxiolitic properties without the heavy edition that can accompany other varieties.

i also enjoy the 11 year waka from Bula Kava House and have been using it for an at-work energy boost with the added benefit of some muscle relaxation and general mood improvement.

as far as money-saving goes, some folks prefer the GHK micronized as you can stir it directly into some liquid and have at it (Chris removes all the makas that would normally be found in medium grind kava so you're getting more usable weight in the bag).
myself? i get the medium grind, put it in the leg of one of my wife's nylons and knead it like a sonofabitch for 20 minutes in warm water with some lecithin dissolved in it then do another kneading session with less water than the first, then drink that ish down

You said your straining it, but are you massaging the root at all? Kava doesn't work well as a typical tea because it's not very soluble in water.

I am using a blender in place of kneading the root. The milk to aid the release of kalavcones ideally. I've been doing an overnight soak too. A fair amount seems to become mirconized and ends up in the bottom of my cup which I stir every time I drink. I do the soak so I can scrap the mamas off of the top as the seem to float. I massaged it before, and before that I just did the huck and wash or made my own capsules. Huck and wash seemed to be the most effective, but dermopathy seems to be an issue many have dealt with and I have sensitive skin to begin with so I am trying alternatives. I was also thinking about making gum using the mirconized powders or making my own micro used powders from medium grind and going from there.

Thanks for the welcome :)!

I was hoping the milk would work well in place of lecithin? Especially after I blend it, I also soak it overnight. How much do you generally use in an evening, as far as Kava goes.?

i generally use 8-10 tbs per pitcher and a pitcher will last my wife and i 2-3 nights of kava drinking so 3-4 tbs per night depending on the desired effects and the strength of the variety. with a mahakea papa kea blend that was heavy on the papa kea, 8 tbs lasted my wife and i almost 4 nights and we were getting very strong effects so it depends on many things

Fair enough, I suppose I have a lot to try and need to see what works best for me haha.

Let Kava Take The Wheel
Take some benadryl with the kava but only if you use kava for sleep. Benadryl makes you drowsy therefore less kava is needed for the task.
