Nambawan Dosage

Hey guys, I can't find much on a starting dosage for Nambawan. It's not my first time using kava. I've had micronized lateral root before and took a tablespoon every couple hours and enjoyed it, but felt I could've used more. What would you guys recommend as a good dose? I'm going to be taking it tomorrow night with my GF and we are just going to spend the night relaxing since it's going to be my first day off in 3 weeks. I figure I'll make a batch that we can drink throughout the night.

I make my Nambawan traditional prep, and use 1/2 cup of root to 2-3 cups of water. If I were making a batch for two people for a night, I'd probably move up to 2/3rds of a cup of root to 4-5 cups of water. Or do preparations back to back using 1/2 cup of root. I find that extraction is a little easier with smaller amounts of root so sometimes a double prep works better than a big batch prep.

However thick or thin you make it is up to you, just make sure you do a second wash with a smaller amount of water. Its tough to get everything out of the root if its swimming in the pool of thick kava/first wash. My dosage basically ends up being a rounded tablespoons worth of root per shell every 20 minutes. So 4 rounded tablespoons in four cups of water. 1 cup every 20 minutes. I may or may not drink it all. Just remember nambawan has a kick to it. With any kava you can always take more if you want to, but you can't take it back after you've swallowed it. My first time drinking it, I ended up sitting awake for two hours until it rounded out.

A general rule of thumb: I give it a little extra time between shells when trying a new variety. I certainly never rush it anymore. The longer I drink kava, the less I push it.

Fantastic advice! I really appreciate you guys taking the time and giving some great responses! USPS messed up again so I don't know when I'm going to get to have my first real kava experience...
but when I do this information is priceless! The GF and I are dying to have a nice relaxing cup with mother kava!

fwiw my favourite "dosage" of nambawan is 1 TBS, 2 TBS, 3 TBS, 4 TBS, 5 TBS and 6 TBS. All different and all great.
