My order of BKH Waka Kava was delivered today and hubby and I would like to try it tonight. Ive only had the instant so far so im not familiar with how to prep. I did read through the prep methods from the different members. So I think im going to go with the method of letting it sit in water for 30 minutes and then kneading for 10 minutes. I would like to make kava koladas for which I have a recipe.
So does my prep sound right? Do I need to restrain after I knead? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think you need to let it sit in water personally . I've never done that and I get excellent results.... I just knead until I don't feel oils anymore... you don't have to do a second wash but some do. I find I get almost everything out on the first go . So I dont. Probrably wasteful but eh.

I like to use kitchen liquid strainers after I finish kneading just in case I let some pieces of root through during preparation. I have two big plastic bowls and I stir the grog up with my hand and then I pour from one bowl to the next clean one through one of my big strainers. I do this two or three times back and forth and clean the bowls in between. I run hot tap water till it is hot to the touch then let that sit for 5 minutes, then knead for five minutes and I get a good strong grog from that. I have added a blender to my process now since reading about the CTAHR method and really like this the best. I still add 2 to five minutes of knead at the end. I think has made my grog even a tad stronger and preparation a little easier. I do three blender sessions about 3 minutes each, then knead and final strain the grog for 2 to five minutes.

@Zachary thanks :) I do want to drink the fine dirt looking stuff that ends up in the bottom of the bowl, right?

thanks @Squanch72 Im curious, am I doing it wrong if no root gets through? I got the strainer bag through BKH and the only stuff that got through was the fine grit which I think is good right?

Give it time. With anything u will get better and better. And the effects will too and u will
Finally understand the true power! Sometimes I don't want to touch the kava if I warm it a little too much so I'll just grab a wooden spoon and push down on the bag of kava with that for a while. Then I knead just to be sure because u can feel when the oils are out and it's kind of crunchy feeling when spent. Enjoy have fun welcome

Chocolate is pretty good too. We only don't mind the taste of kava cause we know what's at the end of the tunnel ! Lol so it depends on how the effects are for him!. Ecspecially for me If I get over stimulated kava is my saving grace and I just don't care how bad it tastes lol

He said he felt nothing :/ Im guessing the Kavalactones need to build up in his system. I woke up still feeling like its in my system. Is that possible? I feel a little funny, kind of like that hangover you can get from benadryl.

Yeah coffee won't work. I don't know why specifically but I have my suspicions.. you need hydration and a tiny bit of caffiene not more dehydration and tons of caffiene :).... I know coffee doesn't really dehydrate but it does in a different way. It's too thick so there's more water used processing it than you get from the drink.... however that's not the point lol.... you just need potent healthy stimulation ! Also once again what cultivar did you use ?

What I do when I'm exhausted like that is use some good Ol water, then some green tea and then eventually some black tea and I take ashwaganda and that allways wakes me up... coffee makes it so much worse in my experience .
