Sup y'all. I'll make this short...

I'm looking for a natural drug that will reduce anxiety and induce euphoria. Preferably legal. It probably doesn't exist.

I use weed once a day and valerian roots couple times a week. I've also had experiences with alcohol, salvia and K@. K@ was not bad but  it made me nauseous (I even threw up), tastes like shit and it's hard to swallow the powder.

Now, I've been reading on kava for a little while, and I'm wondering what I should pick. I've got a couple (noob) questions:

1. Will this make me sick like K@?

2. Do the "instant" powders work as well?

3. How would you compare it to valerian roots? To me, they are very subtle. Can't say I get a "buzz" out of it.

4. Honestly, the substance that makes me feel the best is alcohol. Confident, happy, no anxiety. But I don't drink anymore. How close to being drunk can I get with kava?

Thanks!

Kava can cause stomach sickness, BUT, that is usually dependent on the strain. If you get a kava that has higher kavain levels than DHM or DHK then you should be fine. Kava in my opinion feels sorta like weed and sorta like alcohol accept its less mentally intoxicating, but it's like 100% anxiety relief. It has really worked wonders for me. And this isn't one of those things that will barely give you a buzz, it will give you a fully loaded buzz after you break through reverse tolerance(reverse tolerance is where some folk feel little to nothing the first few times drinking kava and have to let the chemicals build up in there bodies first. Some have reported up to a month of daily kava drinking with no effects and then all of a sudden WHAM! There krunk. Just depends on the individual, so if you try it and don't feel it, don't give up!!!) we kavasseurs refer to this buzz as "krunk". This "krunk can range anywhere from sense of peace, euphoria, heightened sense of sound, no anxiety, all the way to stumbling when you walk. I would suggest that you either get yourself some nambawan from bulakavahouse.com or get yourself some Fiji waka from kavabyrex.com. One of the strongest kavas is called stone and is sold at nakamalathome.com but stone might cause some upset stomach. Hope that helped answer some of your questions!

If taste is a big thing for you, that might be a formidable obstacle for you to enjoy kava. K@ is a cake walk in comparison. Most often kava is very bitter and earthy, and among most of my friends who have tried it, that has been the biggest complaint.

With that said, in the realm of legal substances, kava's anxiolytic properties are second to none. The euphoria is pretty decent as well (I think K@ is a little stronger in this regard but that can be debated) and a heavy intoxication as described by Krunkedout is definitely attainable.

Definitely natural legal drugs that are anxiolytic and euphoric exist, and you already know what they are, namely kava and K@.

I would disagree about kava's anxiolytic properties being second to none.  Only in that those things differ dramatically from person to person.  For one person the most anxiolytic could be kava, another K@, another passion flower, another valerian.  All different medicines with different effects and all quite anxiolytic.

Personally I find that K@ is more mood elevating than kava for me, but I definitely enjoy both.  If I wanted long term anxiolytic medicine I would probably take passion flower twice a day.  For euphoria, I think K@ wins hands down, followed by kava.

As everyone has said, the taste of kava is terrible.  If you don't like K@, I would expect that you will despise Kava.  It tastes like bitter peppery dirt.  The awfulness varies from root to root.  I would rate it on a scale from sour face to full body shiver + gag depending on the strain :).  The extracts are much better in that there is none of the dirt flavor, but the bitter peppery taste of the kavalactones shines through, and lingers longer than just drinking it.  Plus as people mentioned, there can be the reverse tolerance to get through.  Also it is somewhat expensive if you want to use it every day.  Lest you think I am trying to turn you off to kava, know that I drink it every day and enjoy it greatly.  I would personally rather use K@ every day, but I want to avoid addiction so I don't.

If you want to avoid stomach upsetness, make sure you strain the root very well, or use the extracts.  The worst nausea I had was when I drank 4 tbsp of unstrained Boroguru.  I was nauseous for the entire next day.  As long as it is well strained, I imagine you won't have any problem.  I am surprised you experienced so much nausea from K@ though.  Usually that only happens when you take too much.  With K@, less is more, and depending on the strain, less can be more euphoric than more.  It also is important to get it (as well as kava, or any other ethnobotanical) from a reputable source.

TL;DR - Kava is awesome, but tastes even worse than K@ and may take tens of uses to feel the effects.  Also, maybe you used too much K@, because less is more with it.

I took K@ a couple times, tried 4 different strains, and I never felt any euphoria. The sedative ones made me the most nauseous. I didn't make a tea out of it though, I used to just mix the K@ powder into yogourt and eat it. I found it calmed anxiety somewhat, but it pretty much calmed anything going on in my mind. So, you would recommend the extracts? What about instant kava? I don't wanna go through all the trouble of blending it and filtering it etc. I live with my parents. Thanks.

To expand on what's already been said, if you want mess free kava you have two options.

1.) Instant Kava - Powdered concentrate, or prepared kava that has been dried. As powerful as prepared kava but more expensive. 2.) Extract - CO2 Extracted root concentrate. Tasty, and powerful but damned expensive.

Thanks, so what would you recommend between the 2? I want something potent. So, you mix instant kava with water and you drink it? What about extracts?

Extracts are consumed basically like peanut butter, where as instants are mixed with water. I'd say start out with instants as you'll familiarize yourself with the taste of real kava. Try Nakamal @ Home's Shaman Instant, or Bula Kava House's Instant Green. Both killer instants. As for extracts Paradise Kava is the legit...ist supplier of that.

Thanks man, I've checked out Nakamalathome instants and they're all badly reviewed with 1-2 stars out of 5, what's up with that?

It's the website. They switched to a different style site a while back and never reset the review stars so they defaulted to zero. It's a high quality, and high potency product I assure you.

Bad news, they don't ship to Canada!

Alright I'll check it out. So I just wanna make sure, kava doesn't usually make people nauseous, right? Also, K@ had 0 euphoria for me. Would you say kava's effects are closer to K@ or alcohol? I just LOVE being drunk, but I hate drinking, and I hate being all fucked up the next day. I hate damaging my body with this toxic substance. I haven't drank in almost a year.

I just don't wanna get my hopes up you know... Like I did with K@. It's sad to say but I just wanna get fucked up.
I hear you brother. Everyone wants to get fucked up after they learn as a child that spinning makes them dizzy and dizzy is fun. I also live with my parents and at first they were skeptical to say the least. But now, they would think its weird if I didn't drink kava. A good way to describe kava to conservative parents is "it is great for sleep and doesn't affect my mental awareness. It's sorta like chamomile on steroids" I you want to get legit intoxicated on kava, order stone from nakamal at home

I don't plan on telling them... Lol...

Unfortunately, I can't order from Nakamel 'cause they don't ship to Canada.

What I truly wanna know I guess is, how close to being drunk, if at all, can I reach with kava? Happiness, confidence, no anxiety...

well brother, it may be hard with instant. But it's the easiest. Bein krunk is like all the confidence out alcohol accept you don't get stupid. It is intoxicating, but it has a lot to offer. A lot more than just Intoxication.

That sounds very nice. Well, since K@ made me nauseous, I'm kinda reluctant to try regular root powder. I may be better off with extracts then?

Have you ever mixed it with weed?
