I want to order a kava for daytime and for night. I'm looking into GHK. I definitely want the easiest to prepare. Would that be micronized kava or instant? I'm also looking to purchase the better tasting one? And which would be best for day. I work as a nurse and I'm running and on my feet a lot? And best to chill out at night? Thank you in advance for answering my questions:)

They all taste like ground up cat poo, so keep some juice/candy/gum nearby for afterwards if the taste bothers you too much. :) I've learned to ignore it after the first few tries - after a while you'll associate it with good things and not mind it nearly as much. It's really not that bad. I think things like healthy smoothies taste much worse. GHK is a great choice - very quality stuff. I can't help too much on strains (though you definitely want one with more of a body load for post-work unwinding) but I'm sure the experts will be around shortly to give you some tips there.

It can vary a bit from person to person, but if you were looking at GHK, then good options for 'daytime' kava would be Mo'i and Honokane 'Iki. Daytime kavas usually taste less offensive too. Nighttime choices from GHK could be Hiwa, Boroguru or 'Opihikao...expect stronger flavor and more noticable sedation.
Mahakea is an all around favorite, small doses may smooth you out for the daytime but full doses can completely take you away.
I personally feel gross with any kava, if I try to walk around and be active with it. Unless, the dosing is so low that I don't really 'feel' it. But even at that level, it can still relieve some anxiety.
The easiest prep would be with micronized OR instant, the same. Micro might be more cost effective though, but some people have a little rougher time with their stomach on it.

Hi Amy, welcome to the forums, I think Shakas said it best, if you would like to place an order and if you remind me I will send you some free samples of my other kava so you can see what works best for what you want. Dosing is a big factor too, more kava powder is obviously going to be a stronger drink but less will give you good effects too and different than the stronger brew. Have fun experimenting, let me know if you have any questions, aloha.

I'll agree with Chris @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava on this. Dosing is finally a part of my routine and it's remarkable how easy it is to control your desired effect. As little as 1 tsp of micro mahakea can bring about a change of direction for my day. I usually push to the sedate and droopy state myself but for just straight relief of anxiety and stress mixed with a little mood heightening, micro is the easiest way to go for me. Especially working in an environment where it's difficult to break out the tanoa and Fijian music and knead for 15 minutes.

Welcome Amy! You found a good place! Hope you stick around.

I use GHK micronized Mahakea for daytime, & Nene for nighttime.

For breakfast this morning I mixed 2 teaspoons of micro Mahakea in a blender bottle with some orange juice, cream & vanilla protein powder. I couldn't taste the kava at all. (Usually I only use 1 teaspoon, but I guess I wasn't fully awake yet. o_O) Cranberry-pomegranate juice is helpful for masking the kava flavor, too, although nothing has worked as well as that o.j. combo.

If it's a hard day, I'll have another teaspoon of Mahakea before lunch, & maybe another in the late afternoon. That amount & frequency is just right to keep me focused & motivated. I've tried Moi, which a lot of people like, but it makes me feel kind of woozy -- not good for a work day.

In the evening it's time for a teaspoon or 2 of micro Nene, which brings on a gentle, subtle, uplifting sense of well-being... I'm not seeking a melt-into-the-couch state, just a visit to the all's-right-with-the-world zone, and Nene delivers.

If you take Chris up on his offer, you can try a variety of GHK kavas -- sounds like a great opportunity! I'll be curious to hear what works best for you.
