Post-Kava Anxiety?

Just when I thought I was getting Kava to work the way it's supposed to (figured out which type, amounts, shell spacing, etc.), I've started having this weird anxiety afterwards. The sense of well-being (sometimes I even feel borderline ELATION) fades away and I'm just kinda "antsy".

Is there something I can do about this? ie. Additional supplement pre or post Kava, different prep, etc.?

I've switched exclusively to Aluball prep because I've noticed I get an effect I prefer - heady vs. heavy - and it has been great otherwise.

Thanks for any help, guys!

I'm confused as to why using the aluball would make a difference to the headiness or heaviness of the kava you are drinking? To my mind the reason you are feeling that way after drinking kava is precisely because you are drinking heady kava. What you describe in terms of elation followed by anxiety fits in with exactly my experience when I first started sorting out the type of kava that I liked the best. Over the long term I found that a heavy kava suits me better. Partly because I prefer the feeling at the time, muscle melting and sedative. But also because I didn't get any "comedown" effect and I also often felt good well into the next day. I would urge you to try some good, proper heavy kavas such as stone from N@H, Kavafied Supreme or Hiwa from GHK. Give one or two of those a try and then see if you prefer headiness.

Thank you for the recommendations!

I had previously posted about Nambawan, and some responses seemed to indicate a difference between traditional knead-and-strain and Aluball prep, in terms of heady vs heavy. I found it interesting.

I'll be looking into the ones mentioned. I already have Kava Supreme.

Heady kavas can sometimes make people feel antzy. If that happens, you might try blending that heady kava with lawena (for smooth flavor) or with something more heavy to balance the chemotypes out.

Or, if you're dedicated to heady kava, mix it thin and keep up a schedule of small shells every 15 minutes or so. This can keep you in that elation zone longer, perhaps long enough for the heavy KL's to kick in and ease down any lingering anxious energy.
