Kava Recipe Put some Basil in your Kava

I love the taste of kava. On days where I wanna make something with even more flavor though, I add lemon and basil. It's zesty! What little things do you add to your Kava?

I have tried a few sweeteners, some vanilla coffee cream, juice on occasion, cinnamon, tried mixing with coffee - but in the end it just layered another taste on the bitterness of kava. I even tried mixing it with a bit of my homemade kahulua (yeah I know don't mix kava and alcohol but it was just a touch for flavor). In the end none of it seemed worth it. I found it better to just slug it down. Then again the latest tongan kavas I have tried are actually quite yummy - but I still toss them back like I was funneling a beer.

I like my grog ice cold and straight, but if I was going to add something or make a drink out it, @Squanch72 has a great recipe Basil sounds interesting..

Sometimes I just dump some real lime juice in the grog to use the tartness to hide the kava flinch. Basil and the real lime juice sounds like a winner.

I've been using Minute Maid's Lite Mango Passionfruit Juice. Tropical, which is nice, covers the extreme bitterness, and not a ridiculous amount of sugar like most juices.

Lately I've been hooked on AluBallin my Kava with half water and half of this coconut milk / almond milk combo. It doesn't overpower the taste of Kava but adds enough nutty and coconut flavor to make it a little more refreshing.
