Recovery from next-day fog-brain?

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for shaking off the next-day fog brain from a kava session the night before. I notice that sometimes it takes me a few hours to get back to 100% and I'd be shocked if my cognition wasn't impacted.

So far, black tea doesn't really do it, neither does green tea. I had a yerba mate drink (caffeine) which seemed to help.

Any tips or tricks of the trade that can help with that?

I can't really say I really have any tips or tricks for ya but usually drinking a good bit of water when I wake up helps. I do this every morning I wake up.

I used to experience this quite often when I was drinking heavier (including, as it turns out, tudei spiked) kavas. My solution is to avoid drinking kava immediately before going to bed and to drink plenty of non-chlorinated water (just add some lemon juice to your tap water - vit c removes chlorine).

@Steve Mariotti, it is rare that I feel foggy when I do Hawaiian Kava. I pop right out of bed. Full Disclosure, I do about 4 cups of coffee in the morning while I work on the computer and eventually eat breakfast. I start at 5am. I do get a full 8 hours of sleep and my typical session is 3 tablespoons of Micronized in the afternoon and finishing at 5pm. I remember the time I had Koniak the night before and I was zig zagging all over the driveway looking for the newspaper at 5am. But that kava is a "weekend" kava which of course is code for it being Tudieish. So how many hours of sleep do you get? How much kava do you ingest in a session?

Usually I do half a cup (ish) of medium grind at around 7pm, and tend to turn in between 10 and 11 and the alarm goes off at 6:30. So probably about 7-8 hours on average. On foggy mornings, maybe a little more than 1/2 cup. And maybe I start a little late in the evening?

I know you have a busy night schedule with youngsters in the house but you may be starting too late and the effects carry over. I normally cut off at 5, eat, relax, and then go to bed at 9. That's 4 hours after I do my last shell. Once in a blue moon I might dip into the well at 8PM for another shell of micronized. I will make note take time and see if drinking kava 1 hour before bedtime makes it harder to get up or not. Since I said that, I noticed that my brain came alive last night and I didn't sleep as soundly. Work projects whirring around in my head. Maybe I do need that last shell at 8PM to put the hammer to the brain. There has to be a happy balance somewhere. Next session, I will do the 8PM shell and see how I wake up. I'd rather be foggy in the morning then listening to my brain all night. :D

I think the only way really is to cut back on the amount or drink earlier as everyone has said. Thankfully it doesn't seem to effect me throughout the day. I'm very slow getting out of bed but some tea seems to banish it all for me.

Half a cup is about 8 tablespoons I believe. If I take 8 tablespoons of some heavy stuff I'm definitely foggy in the morning. Or maybe it's a teething baby waking up a couple times in the middle of the night. I don't know... I save the heavy stuff for the weekends now days. Seems to not be as bad with the Hawaiian stuff. You get that foggy feeling from the Hawaiian stuff?

@Steve Mariotti Ok, I'm on my third tablespoon and I will do another at 8PM. Let's see if I wake up in a fog. No matter what, I should sleep well. :D

Kava, Kava
can someone explain what they are experiencing as brain fog?

I am noticing its hard for me to read, its weird, its like sometimes i dont read the correct word, more like a word that sounds like it. and im finding it hard to concentrate when reading to understand what im actually reading. I cant remember if this problem happened before i started kava, but its something new that's been going on this past week.

especially if im reading something very complex i just want to give up because of the big words..

Last weekend i did a little bit "that white girl" so im hoping that's the issue because I rarely do it, one of my friends offered and i was just like.. what the hell.. lol

Steve just like Henry, I too had the "morning after" problem from spiked kava. Since I've switched to GHK's imported Boroguru, exclusively, that problem has vanished. It's a Vanuatu kava, but his "source" is noble. Great stuff. Of course we all constantly battle the dehydration factor, but the fog that I experienced was way beyond that! "Stay thristy my friend"! Hell, I'm always thirsty because I drink kava!.....for it and because of it!:wtf:
