So I will refrain from shameless promotion by not pretending to be a happy customer of store.bulakavahouse.com. I am in fact the owner of Bula Kava House, so this is a promotional post. We started a kava bar in Portland, Oregon March of this year, and recently began online sales as well.  We did so because we get great deals on super high quality kava because we buy quite a bit to support our kava bar. We in turn, are able to pass very reasonable prices on to kava lovers across the US. I have tried other kava from other sources and I have nothing bad to say about most of it, there are some great retail suppliers out there for sure. We are able to offer a similar quality kava at often significantly lower prices, and more than anything, as a kava lover myself, I know it's nice to try different types. We always rotate in new great kava when we find it, right now we have three awesome, organically grown kavas from Vanuatu, all aged five years before being dug up and freshly ground. yep, there's already been talk of your online selling on here before, BUT what i really like is that we are a very small community here, but its the ONLY forum on the internet dedicated to kava. And its really cool that the online sellers like you and paradise kava make time to let us know what going on.





i have a question, is your tongan a stimulating one? i've only tried tongan pride from kavabyrex.com, and its very stimulating, although not imparting energy, which is confusing for my body .. i don't like it by itself but its nice to mix with a nice fiji waka.

That's good. Some of us won't buy unless it's through paypal. Specially me, I don't trust my bank as far as I can kick'm (which is why I'm looking for a different one at the moment) so I use paypal to avoid giving the bank yet another thing to screw up for me.

We're even out of isa in the bar. The stuff is nice but crazy expensive! 

We use quite a high ratio of kava to water in the bar. 400g for every gallon.  We use such a high ratio because we are not able to lomi lomi (massage) the kava before squeezing it, we simply make too much.  After the kava mixture sits, often overnight, but for 1 hr. minimum, we use a machine that presses the liquid out of the mixture with 1800 lbs. of pressure.  We then remix the separated root with about half of the kava from the first press and press it one more time. We end up with some pretty strong stuff, nobody likes watered down kava.

I have now thoroughly tested the Melo Melo and Borogo kavas offered by Bula Kava House. Neither kava disappointed. Fresh, aromatic, and very effective. Next on my list is a trip to Portland. Would love to see the kava bar and find out more about the business.

Greetings, Judd. I'm using a French Canadian keyboard and I am totally krunked-out, so forgive any typos.



A few vendors have kava+stuff. Bee Mellow comes to mind, but also different mixes, usually involving some sort of extract but sometimes just normal ground-up kava.



What I would love is kava+hazelnut butter. I don't know why Americans do not like hazelnut butter (fuck Nutella, it's candy, not food). Yet, Oregon produces over 90% of the world's hazelnuts.



We here in Buckingham Palace (my home away from home in Tanna) would love some kava-laced-hazelnut butter. I often buy a case of 12 with the promise I'll limit myself to one a month, but wind up eating the whole thing in a quarter. I've been trying to get QE2 to start a campaign educating the public on the nessesicity of Omega-9, but she thinks I'm just making it up. I told her to look it up on Wikipedia, but she thinks I've made up every article on the site. Yes, I am a demigod of amazing powers, being John Frum's brother, but I'm not that bored.



Think about it... hazelnut butter (pure, no candybars, no sugar or other sweetener added or needed), with a kick.
