Suggestions or tips?

Hello everyone! I am obviously new here, bare with me! I went to Hawaii last weekend and was introduced to Kava. I had never even heard of it. A business acquaintance of my Husband's sent him a text that read "find a Kava Bar, have two large kava bowls each, thank me later"! We were like, "huh"? Literally no clue. So of course we yelp it and low and behold there is a Kava Bar about 3 minutes from us. We go, we learn, we try (1.5 bowls each). We both feel very relaxed. I likened it to 1/2 a percocet. Anyway, we enjoyed it. (knowing what I know now, after all of my research, I realise that we are very lucky that we felt anything at all). The next day we go back for 1 more each. Didn't feel much that time, but we only had one each. So we get back home and I'm obsessed. I would say I have alcoholic tendencies, insomnia like crazy, anxiety that I've taken meds for, etc. etc. So Kava sounds right up my alley! I find this forum and start researching. I decide to order the "sample pack" from Chris at Gourmet Hawaiian Kava. So I'm anxiously awaiting it. I will be getting the package on Monday and I'm wondering what your tips or suggestions are!?! I got the instant mo'i. The Micro ne'ne'. And the mahakea medium grind. What to try first and how much? Do you think that I managed to skip the RT? That would be so awesome, but I'm also trying to be realistic. Maybe I imagined my super relaxed state of mind?!? Thanks so much to all of you super awesome Kava Friends!!!

Some people don't get reverse tolerance, so you may be lucky.

That sample pack is a really great way to go. Might recommend checking out the reviews on the subforum for Ghk. I did one recently for the instant Moi, it tastes nice, and is strong. Just mix that one with water :)

I never had RT. Got krunked on my first kava batch. I'd recommend the Moi. A lot of people like it. If you want extra potent, go with a half pound of the Hanakapi ai. Mahakea is also potent, but the Hanakapi ai won't be around too much longer and its probably worth a try. I've been told its a little bit stronger than the Papa Kea that he recently was selling.

Welcome @Lee77. Sit back and enjoy the journey from here on out. I would also recommend the micro sample pack from @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava but I think there is something to be said for starting with traditional prep. I feel like I learned a little more respect for the process and tradition in a sense. Either way you picked a top notch vendor for sure. Welcome aboard.
