The lure of Lawena?

I've never tried a Lawena Kava. I have read that they are milder and a bit more oriented toward the day. But, it seems that one could simply make a weaker batch of Kava to do the same thing? What is the appeal? Just am curious.

For me it is a mellower kava, it is a bit weaker, this is true. Using a more sedating/heavier kava and using less root is still going to result in the same effects. I think of Lawena as a daytime kava, it's my breakfast kava :)

The breakfast of Champions. :) There is nothing like that first shell on a Saturday morning. You never know what the day will bring.

Mmmm Kava
I like lawena for the milder taste. Even if I make waka weak I still don't think it's as good tasting (relatively speaking) as a shell of lawena

I call it In-Law-ena. It helps me with I have to be around a large group of what I refer to as 'Talkers'. It makes me a chatty Kathy and I can keep up. Where Waka even though heady lays me back on chill mode more.
Also when I crank up the shells with Lawena it is more of a dreamier euphoria compared to a Waka euphoria.
So I follow my need, do I need to go up a little and survive a social event or expect a bad day at work then I reach for the Lawena. If I have the house to myself and want to YouTube Sam Harris, Joe Rogan, Terrence McKenna, or other Tripp shit, then going heavy on the Lawena can be nice for that. If I have the house to myself and want to zone out to the latest All Them Witches album, then I shoot for Waka or reach for a something even more balanced or a heavy root. Lawena to me is the Working or Social root.

There's something more bitter and irritating to the stomach about waka roots, which still persists to a certain degree, even if you water it down. Lawena is generally more palatable and can occasionally have a slightly different ratio of kavalactones. It is lower in overall kavalactones, often close to half, so if you're not worried about having the easiest, most palatable version of mild kava effects, simply making a weak batch of regular kava would be fine. You'd probably save some money too, since they're often priced pretty similarly to each other, despite the disparity in strength.

I operate under the opinion that overall KL% should play a significant role in pricing...thus I rarely buy lawena.

I like lawena, it's different but still good. At the end it doesn't taper down, though, I find. It just drops you. One moment you are krunk and then look out the window for a second and look back and it's gone, poof! And it only lasts about 1/2 hr, usually, whereas waka can go 45 min to 90 min, depending, and gently brings you back down to a soft mellow that really lingers. I would think if people were only drinking kava for anxiolytic effect, lawena would be good, just a 1 TBS dose each morning and night. You'd never really feel anything, I think, except for sweet dreams, and less anxiety, of course.
