Toss N Wash

3 to 4 tablespoons would be way too much powder for my stomach to handle TnW'd!! Lately I've just gone the traditional route only. Better for the stomach, the skin and maybe the liver!! If you have a decent strainer that lets in most of the good stuff and leaves out the bulky root particles, then 3 to 4 tablespoons should still give a decent buzz!!

I do it all the time. Liver is fine, but I have recently developed some dermopathy on my hands and feet. I dont really get why straining is supposed to magically remove all the negative effects. Whether you strain it or not its the same substance. To me its waste not want not. I also like the effect better from toss and washing. Is it possible that they prepare it as they do in the south pacific simply because they use fresh root? Tradition notwithstanding there is not a lot of good science on why tossing and washing powdered root is harmful.
I don't really have any scientific evidence for or against toss and washing, but it certainly makes sense to me that there could be certain compounds that are ingested with toss and wash and not straining. I personally don't do it because it makes me feel really bad, but that could just be all the fiber and woody material.
Well, yeah. lol. If you want to toss and wash get a micro to fine grind kava. There's no way I could even imagine toss and washing root chunks lol.

It's effective, very effective. It just makes you want to toss your cookies drinking that grime.
Toss n wash n toss <--- probably the reason they don't do it.
The first bag of kava I ever ordered was Tongan Pride from KBR, which had some chunky parts to it. Needless to say, I tried the Toss n Wash method before I knew it was called that, and was a gag away from the 2nd toss in your equation. Live and learn!

Here's a tosh and wash for you:

Stuck in the only hotel in Tuvalu (the 4th smallest economy in the world, roughly, and the country that rents out the .tv domain) and lacking anything for either straining or mixing, we were left with this. (smiley: eek)(smiley: pimp)

Tonight is a toss-n-wash night for me. After a really terrible commute home, and no pre-soaked kava in the fridge, Vanuatu Super Epi + blender + straw = happy Ed.
