Has anyone tried this? is it good? Do you think they blend the makas with the kava or its strained out before micronizing?
Anyone faced any issue?

These are the guys that sell the 11 year old micronized, they are the source, they also do grind all the kava, makas and all. I have talked many times to there sales rep and she is a nice person that is trying to sell a lot of kava. I tried the kava and I personally do not like it but I know there are those that do like it.
They are looking for resale-rs if your interested in selling this brand of kava. Aloha.

Ive heard that fiji sellers micronize the makas with the kava. Personally i think they arent aware that the makas needs to be taken out or maybe dont know how to. But generally what happens if you drink micronized kava with makas? Aside from the fact that it would be chalky and harder to swallow, are there any side effects of this?

Many people will acknowledge that 11 yr/wakaya seems to give them a faster onset of bad dermopathy. It's suspected to be partially caused by the inclusion of the ground up hard fibers, but also just the nature of drinking a lot of micronized. GHKs makaless micronized is a lot more forgiving and doesn't seem to bring on dermopathy as quickly or as harsh, this helps support the idea that makas are partially to blame.

Effectswise, I find 11 yr/12 yr/Wakaya to generally be strong and enjoyable.

I agree Shakas. I have been doing GHK Micro for years with NO side effects so I'm not about to change. Some can handle the makas just fine but I ain't gonna push my luck. You can always strain the 11 year old but it kinda defeats the purpose in my case.

They use this Kava at a lot of Kava bars in California. I'm not a big fan, personally. But then again, I didn't get to control the Prep.

That eleven year packs a wallop. But yeah, that's one of the few kava's that made my lips crack. Probably due to the fact that it was so easy to ingest quite a bit of it, makas and all.

But yeah, occasionally, or if you can control yourself (I can't) that 11 year powder is fun stuff.

I have tried Wakaya aka "11 year waka" aka "12 year waka". It is micronized, but not thoroughly micronized, so there are still some larger particles/fibers in it. The effects are quite heavy, kind of like being slapped across the face.

It is possible to micronize without removing the makas by using a special process to prevent the makas from combusting in the hammer mill (they are basically like wood, and get very hot in the mill), but I don't think this company does that.

From what Chris at GHK has posted, the only way to remove Makas is to core it out of the root while it is still fresh. He claims to have a "secret process". ::evilgeniusz:: Any other process would be less than perfect. I guess you could get a bunch of people with potato peelers working on it but no one has taken to my brainstorm. Maybe I should invent the Kava Peeler.

You mean that wakaya perfection isnt exactly micronized as they claim? i tried finely straining my traditional grind kava and then making it but somehow the kava particles seem to expand in the water and make it just look like something you wouldnt wanna drink unless you're making a fiberous smoothy...personally i think micronized kava should produce the same brew as when you do a traditional knead which takes out the 98% of the makas...and instant is when you want instant of fresh green kava

I have noticed that @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava has the best micronized Kava on the market. I find a lot of the other micronized Kavas to be a bit woody, fibrous, and toss and wash-y. And I don't want to jump to Instants, because they have this dehydrating and kind of acidic (can't really find the right word here) quality that gives me a gag effect.

Yeah. I think that's right. Instant Kavas are really a last resort for me. I have to be out of candies - out of everything - before I even think about mixing up an Instant Kava. That being said, Luna Kava's Instant isn't so bad.

Yeah I tried and instant once, I'd rather have a dog fart in my face than drink that tripe again. It has me worried about getting some micro in fear that it will taste asstastic also.

No, Micro doesn't taste anything like Instant. It tastes like regular dried and kneaded Kava, but perhaps slightly grittier. Closer to toss and wash than Instant.

It is micronized. It is just not as carefully or thoroughly micronized as Gourmet Hawaiian Kava, or @Kalm with Kava micro.

There is a thread here somewhere where some folks made home-made instant by dehydrating traditionally prepared kava. Was that you @Edward ?

The best micronized kavas have makas removed and are ground with an actual micronizer, thus mix easily with water. Most "micronized" I've seen is just more finely ground than average whole kava root.
