I love me some papa kea. Its probably the heaviest kava i have had. actually its the only kava i have had where i cans say i felt enjoyable heavy effects. how doees hiwa compare? does it have the same pain killing properties that makes you just want to sit back and melt into the couch?

Hiwa can be fairly sedating and heavyish, for a Hawaiian 'awa. I really enjoyed the last batch I had, and I tend to prefer balanced and heavy kavas more. You could also add Nakamal at Home's WOW! kava to your shopping list, if you wanna try a clean, strong, heavy noble.

When I did Papa Kea, I liked it's pain killing ability. It was like my go to kava after doing the lawn and weedeating. Really nice for my tendonitis. I had some Hiwa a few months back and it's good. You should really try to put all 13 Hawaiian Kavas on your bucket list and as Chris releases them. Ooops, that should be 14 kavas with his procurement of the "Orange" Kava. I think that is Hawaiian too?

Orange kava?

Yes, Chris at @Gourmet Hawaiian Kava posted earlier in the week that a Shaman or something like that, had given him a Kava that chris didn't have. He called it Orange because there might have been an orange tinge to the root. You would have to find the original post to get all the facts. It may be a new variety that has never been documented. For Chris, this is like winning a "small" lottery. He is not just a grower but he is also an historian when it comes to Kava.

I don't have a preference because I only do micronized and I go with whatever is available. I would say I liked Papa Kea for Muscle and Bone Relief and perhaps Hiwa was more of a weekend Kava (like I use Mahakea). Since I'm a kava liteweight, they all give me effects that I enjoy.

@rayken, I just did a tablespoon of Mahakea. So I can tell you that it is much heavier and almost mind numbing compared to nene. However, I can still do rocket science. But it mellows me out to the point where I can do a distasteful job with no problem. I though I would tell you since it is still in my brain. Fixin' to do another one in 5-4-3-2-1 Mahakea! ... I mean Blastoff!
