Can you combine Kava and Viagra without any adverse health affects? There are no relevant results or doctors' opinions on Google, only a bunch of spammy blogs.
Alright, thanks. Could you clarify a bit as to why there wouldn't, though? If there's any scientific jargon/health jargon that you could use to further elaborate, no problem. There was only one page on Google that didn't list Kava as interacting with Viagra but did list Kava as interacting with Xanax, and sifting through the interactions list at "Home > New To Kava? > What should I be cautious of or avoid while drinking kava?" there is also no mention of Kava combined with Viagra, so thanks in advance to everyone who can chime in with their two cents.I can't imagine there would be any conflicts. I can't recommend for or against it though.
Why would you say that? If it's generally known why haven't I heard that? But isn't it generally known that it's bad to mix herbal remedies with western medications?
And if you want to know how they cure priapism...I don't know the answer, because I don't think is has been specifically studied. But there are 2 things you usually need to worry about when you consider drug interactions. First, do the drugs act by the same mechanism? Viagra acts on nitric oxide receptors in the penis. Kava acts on various neuroreceptors in the brain, so there is no danger of interaction there. Second, are the drugs metabolized by the same enzymes in the liver? Viagra is metabolized by Cytochrome P450 3A4 (major) and 2C9 (minor). Kavalactones are metabolized by CYP 1A2, 2C9, 2C19, 2D6, 3A4, 4A9/11. (See: is drinking kava every night unhealthy?). So, yes since Viagra is metabolized by some of the same enzymes as kava, it is possible that drinking kava could cause the level of Viagra in your system to be increased over what it would be when you take it without kava. As @Capitán Bastos noted, there is a risk of priapism in this case. ("If you have an erection for more than 4 hours....it will be rather painful and much less fun than it sounds...") So I would be very careful with that combination.
I did that above. I would not recommend using intuition when it comes to any drug combination.... I would look up as much as you can about viagras biological effect Ecspecially enzymes that break it down and use your intuition .
I'm giving it to you straight here.@verticity
Hardly a joking matter. Haha
Why is it that every statue I've seen of him, his penis is broken off at the crotch line? And if you want to know where the word priapism comes from...
It comes from the Ancient Greek God named Priapus,
"...In Greek mythology, Priapus (/praɪˈeɪpəs/; Greek: Πρίαπος, Priapos) was a minor rustic fertility god, protector of livestock, fruit plants, gardens and male genitalia. Priapus is marked by his oversized, permanent erection.."
Seriously. I'm not making this up.
