The best micronized kavas have makas removed and are ground with an actual micronizer, thus mix easily with water. Most "micronized" I've seen is just more finely ground than average whole kava root.
Yeah i've been looking at a micronizer to purchase and have it shipped to fiji but im still too broke for that right nw

I might be wrong about this, someone correct me if I am. But I think a hammer mill is used both for making regular grind, and micronized. For micronized you need to crank it up, or let it run longer or something (I'm not actually too clear on how hammer mills work). If you don't remove the makas, you would need to either cool the hammer mill, or inject a nitrogen atmosphere to prevent combustion. (Kava King has a patent on the latter process, although I'm not sure how much water that patent would hold in court, due to it being kind of an "obvious" invention. Also, it's a US patent, so I don't know if it would apply in Fiji--I am not a lawyer)

A hammer mill is not the same as a micronizing machine. A hammer mill will not grind the kava as fine and as you mentioned you will get a lot of heat and that will change the flavor of the kava. For example the processing technique that Kava King uses has a noticeable effect on the flavor of there kava.
I will post some pictures of my hammer mill later so you can see what it looks like and how it works.
Aloha.

Nah a hammer mill can just produce fine kava powder to how fine its screen is not true micronized kava that most users want

I've seen your hammer mill. What I would actually like to see is your micronizer. :)

Here are the pictures of my large hammer mill-----

Now for the pictures of the micronizor---

I hope you guys like the pictures. Aloha.

Great pics chris, how much kava are you able to process in an hour with that size micronizer?

It is micronized. It is just not as carefully or thoroughly micronized as Gourmet Hawaiian Kava, or @Kalm with Kava micro.

There is a thread here somewhere where some folks made home-made instant by dehydrating traditionally prepared kava. Was that you @Edward ?
The original was the captain (krunk not bastos!) but I did have a thread the same.

Or does it run under vacuum? I see at least two or three motors. Is one a vacuum pump. And what is that pipe underneath the machine?
