Kava tolerance

When I first started drinking kava I had reverse tolerance, or I guess I did. IAE, I drank kava for a long time and nothing ever happened, except awesome dreams. Which was so gosh darn cool I stuck with it and eventually other effects started kicking in.

But now I believe I have tolerance. Not because it takes more kava to have an effect, if anything, I get effects almost immediately, within a minute or two instead of 15 minutes to a half hour waiting for anything to kick in. No, I mean I can drink a lot of kava. I drink all day every day, lots of grog. And as I say, it's not because I need more to get the same desired effect, no, what happened was I got really good at drinking kava. And I have fewer ill effects the more I drink. No nausea, no odd feelings, no dermo, except for drying of my hands from kneading, which I enjoy, and I just use plain lotion for that, which I should be doing anyway. (also, I have not had a kava nightmare since I stopped alcohol, stopping alcohol made kava appreciably better)

No, I just got really good at drinking kava. And as I did it got better and better. I haven't gotten krunk in over a month, but I don't need to. I think this is better. Lots of kava. Straight no chaser, love the taste, trad prep, straight up. All day, every day. Yum.

Interesting that you mention dreams. I had a not so pleasant experience as my body adjusted, it wasn't s necessarily that the dreams were bad it was that I never locked fully into REM sleep. I remember two experiences that I literally launched myself out of bed as I acted out the motions in my dreams. It was quite scary and I never associated it with the kava till now.

Nice to know that the side effects aren't like your average pharmaceutical product
One of the best benefits for me. I can drink a little or a lot and worse case scenario, I might be a bit sleepy the next day. Compared to some of my previous choices in life, this is a big plus and upgrade.

I had to get up early today, around 9, to let service guy in to fix my fridge. I got really rooted last night, like 20tbs total for the whole night. I went to bed at 3am, I was up at 9 but he only got here at 10:30, it took him 15 minutes to fix it. I went right back to sleep without even shelling, I was still in the zone, beautiful thing. I slept another 3 hours with lovely dreams. :)

My grand project, to which kava is integral, and already helped me go a long way to completion, is to fully integrate my dreaming and waking life, make the transition seamless, so that it becomes all of a piece, so I am awake 24/7 but only able to fly 8 hours a day. It'll help me organize work better. Some things are for dreamland, some for wake land but it's otherwise all the same.

I am just the opposite of all the comments here. I started kava after researching REM sleep disorder and decided to try it. I used to act out my dreams, speak in tongues and hit scream and pretty much almost called an excosist. But kava puts me in amore relaxed state to where I can sleep more sound and now it is only 50 % of the time that I act out my dreams. So it is definately an improvement and I pretty much quit drinking alcohol nightly.

The amount you guys are drinking makes me happy bc I thought I was drinking a lot, up to 3oz in a session but it's nothing on you guys

20 tbsp in a session? Isn't that like 1/2 lb? Sounds expensive.

there's typically 72 TBS to a pound of medium grind (16 TBS per 100g and 18TBS per 1/4 lb), so 20 TBS would be a quarter pound plus 2 TBS, nowhere near a half pound. It's a lot of grog to be sure but nowhere near as scary as 1/2 pound.

Thanks for clarifying. I had always wondered just how many tbsp are in a lb. Does kava have a lethal dose? Like would you die if you somehow managed to injest an entire pound of squanch lol?

To my knowledge there is no fatal dose, but I think with some of these CO2 extracts we might find out. with the 70% KL stuff it takes very very little to have "too much"

but with grog I think you just get very very sick if you have too much

I'm not sure if it would but it sounds like the way I'd want to go
