Kava available in Australia

That's awesome! How would you compare it to the Loa kasa leka?
They are both good but I think I prefer the Qila Leka. Was a really good buzz and lasted quite a while. Got a few more of Blue Lagoon’s various offerings (got their 4 x 100g bag deal) so will let you know how they go!

So does anyone know much about covid + kava. Was feeling a bit under the weather and prepared a few shells to feel better.
Certainly felt better while the kava was active, but felt like garbage once it wore off.

Decided to do second rapid test of the day and sure enough - positive

It seemed to help the symptoms a lot while I was having shells though - I was wondering if it would be ok to consume tomorrow as well (no work for me), or should I steer clear until recovered?
Hey sunset how did you go with your Covid bout? I hope it wasn't too bad and that your back to normal health.

Hey @Agador , I went ok all things considered - thanks for asking. The first week wasn't so bad, but then after my one week isolation was over I immediately started coughing and had a very tight chest. That took like 1.5 weeks to shake - although my son tested positive for RSV that week so I may have caught that as well lol.

All fine now though. How have you been? Still slamming shells lately?

Just finishing off a session on Blue Lagoon's Damu cultivar. Gotta say this is fantastic!

@BLK.Matt I'm surprised this isn't more popular/talked about - the effects are so nice and it doesn't taste that bad either!

It's definitely a creeper and gets stronger over time. It leans heavy but without couchlock or being overly sedating - just a chilled melting feeling. It also provides a very nice mindstate where I feel chatty and happy, but without the kavain rush feeling. It melts the worry/anxiety away. Pretty unique in my opinion.

Loving this cultivar! 40g in 550ml water is sweet spot ::chugger:: very happy with the strainer from Blue Lagoon aswell. It's my first time with 75micron and the difference on the stomach is massive! I was previously using 100micron.

I would urge anyone who wants a balanced and unique kava to try this!

Unfortunately the Damu gave me some insomnia - I got that wierd stimulated feeling and just could not switch the brain off. Had to take some diazepam to fall asleep. Real bummer considering how great it felt while I was on it. I think I might stick to aluballing this one, as I did have one aluball the other night (around 18-20g) and slept fine after. I've only had one other Kava cause this reckon (root and pestle Melo Melo), but this one bums me.out because I really enjoyed it. I didn't even drink it that late - I had it from 5.30pm to 6.50 pm

I dived in and got 500g for $40 - by far the cheapest I've seen! I'd describe it as balanced, they claim chemotype 4 3 6 on the packet, and 17% kavalactone content! I've no idea if either of those are true. Grind is pretty rough, a few big chunks, but goes ok in the aluball.

Seems pretty good to me! Be interested to hear some more refined palated opinions though.

Oh, and happy new year!

Nice one.

I’ve just been shelling Classic Kavas Vanuatu Five Star which is very pleasant

I tried Nesian Kava which is a Tongan kava. Very nice, uplifting heady kava. Excellent for a daytime session and to socialise with. Will be a regular!!
Just ordered some of the Tongan - was looking for something heady that i could take during the workday - will see how it goes and report back - cheers.

That's disappointing. If it had a great taste and some effects, it could be a good vehicle to bring greater acceptance and popularity of our fav drink into mainstream society. Maybe they'll crack it one day!

I picked up a couple of shots of this in Coles today:

And FMD if they haven't found a way to make FijiKava taste even worse!!
aw gee. I know they were affiliated way back, is it the same kava? I had taki mai grind fairly regularly (a long, long time ago) and it was MUCH better than fijikava is now.
