How to prevent next day slowness/bluntness/grogginess?

Bula All,

Still loving kava and drinking it 1-3 times per week ... the first hour or two of my kava sessions are fantastic, but these days I'm starting to really not look forward to what I consider to be 'negative' residual effects -- mental dullness, irritability, low sleep quality, and next day grogginess and slowness.

I would love kava if somehow the residual effects 'ended' quickly. I think of nicotine and its effects that then 'end' quickly, and you're back to 'sober'.

Is there any way to prevent the kava-induced grogginess the next morning? Should I consume some other psychoactive to 'cancel out' the kava or end it? Should I chug water with electrolytes?

I wonder if you just had kavain on its own and left the other kavalactones behind... is that some miracle solution?

Thank you all for your thoughts here! Grateful for this community and I appreciate any tips or tricks you all may have

Hi,

I guess you should try another kava strain. Which one are you drinking and at which time?

I regularly drink a heady kava mid day, a balanced/heavy kava in the afternoon and a heavy one an hour or two before sleep.
In fact I sleep extremly well with this in most cases, much better than in my breaks.
Of course I also notice effects the next day, but they are pleasant. I need less slepp, am more refreshed and get fit more quickly in the morning.
The right strain at the right time seems to have a big impact.
Electrolytes one ore two times a week could also help, as well as vitamin B. Maybe you are suffering from dehydration and therefore feel bad the next day.

A lighter strain - I find Root & Pestle Silesse - minimises next day grogginess.

For next day grogginess on a heavier strain I find the only way to shake it off quickly is to sweat it out with some exercise. Otherwise it stays around all day and dissipates right around 5pm when its time to start drinking again.

Thank you both for the replies. I have found exercising the next morning to 'sweat out the kava' can help reduce any grogginess.

I'll also make sure to have electrolytes to stay hydrated... going to experiment with some different ones, perhaps more magnesium...
