Trees at that elevation!!? Wow, bet the view was spectacular. Did you drink a shell right at the top? Sounds like an experience for sure. If you set up a hammock in those trees you can take a kava nap at the top of the world!

We drank kava in the shade of a big fir tree with a view of over 20 miles down the slope. Kava feels good at almost two miles high.

PS: the tree line in northern New Mexico is a little higher than Colorado, about 11,000 to 11,500. So...that's our next goal, kava above tree line.

So today we wandered higher up the slope to 9,900’ elevation. It was easier to drink the FijiVanua Kava Instant Gold.
That sounds amazing and it's really interesting to even think about how kava may be different at different altitudes with the varying oxygen levels. I'm not sure what the highest point is in the traditional kava producing nations, Tonga, Hawaii, Fiji, Vanuatu?
