KAVA and ASMR

First off, hello new forum! I see all the old faces, love what you guys have done here, seriously, bravo. All the greatness of the old forum +100, love it!

Now on to the subject matter. Anyone here familiar with ASMR?* The (autonomous sensory meridian response) is very difficult to explain to someone who has never experienced it. Throughout my childhood I always assumed I was alone in it. How watching someone draw or sketch or paint, or even simply whisper, could produce an outstanding "tingling" effect all throughout my head and body, the ultimate relaxation. Turns out, I'm not alone, and I've found thousands of other people on YouTube watching (and dedicating themselves to) videos which try to trigger the response.

This man is a genius, and an example of how sounds can be used to relax. and in my case, nearly sedate. (should be watched with headphones for best result)

Recently I've found that Kava and ASMR go hand in hand. I've never slept better and deeper in my life, and the "tingle" sensation induced by specific triggers (like the touch tapping in the above video) were amplified significantly. It has become a normal routine for me :D

Is there death before life?
Very nice.

I've always wondered what that was, Thanks for showing this.
I think one reason it works for people to relax is because it turn their concentration away from what was "Stressing" them.
And then the rhythmatic aspect of it all, which we all know has been through vast amounts of cultures, for various reasons.

I get that somewhat of the same sensation from certain classical music; Moonlight Sonata would be one of the more common ones.
Gonna drink some shells of enlightenment tonight and enjoy this!

Interesting stuff. I tried it and I'm rather impressed with how well it works. At first I thought it was a bit strange since I had no clue what ASMR was at all but after some time you get sucked right into it. Good find man, as I never would've found out about it. Without a doubt going to incorporate this with my session tonight...should be good.

yeah i also like asmr,

I guess people who like kava, are the kind of people who research cool stuff online, and would then be aware of asmr

With the right recording, I can get INTENSE tingles

Wow, brilliant post ouroboros. I haven't even thought of the potential this had for meditation/self revelation as you have, truly fascinating stuff... Here I am just using it to get to sleep.. But indeed, it is a very difficult thing to explain, and there came a point where I just stopped trying to explain it in general. Though, I knew it would be well responded to here, and I was right :)

Oh yes, same! I was actually watching someone play Rachmaninov;s prelude in c# once when I started to experience something similar. For me, I have to actually watch people perform, sounds alone don't do it for me unfortunately.

Awesome! I'm glad to have introduced it, most people look at me like I'm a little crazy when I show them.. Bula and now, happy.. er.. ASMRing? :D

Sweet. Will try. Welcome back btw.
and it is good to be back, thanks!

Same, I find that lower quality mics and video that have a "Static" effect are the best for me. Also, interestingly, I get way more tingles and relaxation when someone isn't trying to trigger an ASMR response... if that makes sense. When it's unintentional, it's much better in my experience. I spend a lot of time looking for drawking/painting tutorials that suit my need. I never intend to learn to draw :p

My first experience was while staying home sick from school when I was maybe 7, watching Bob Ross paint. Man that man was amazing.

Understandable respone by someone who has never experienced asmr, or at least, someone who has yet to experience the proper trigger. I appreciate that you gave it a try, though.

I can never achieve any tingling sensations from this. It without a doubt relaxes me and makes me very sleepy in the end but still no tingling. Are these sensations experienced only through headphones do you think? I've only used this with speakers so far.

Both but more with headphones

The thing is that if you don't remember growing up with it, then you'll probably never get the tingles

That's probably the case. I've never experienced this before in the past but at least it works in other ways
