My homemade shell

Saw some big ass coconuts at Whole Foods, they even had white coconuts. Kind of tripped on that for a while. No Taki Mai at the Whole Foods in my neck of the woods though. They did have yerba mate canned drinks which was cool.

I wonder if there is any sort of drying or curing process that needs to be done to keep it from cracking. Please let us know how your hold up Edward.

Project is moving along decently. Have a good sized bowl now, it will hold probably 8+oz, so double the size of my current shells. Lots of sanding left to be done though.
The other half broke into a dozen pieces during the process so the stand will have to wait for another time.

Did you pick any of the canned Yerba up? I've seen it around but haven't tried them out yet, mainly because of the cost. Might be nice on a hot day.

Some cultures pack their "fancy" shells in moist sand when not in use, to keep them from drying out.

But in most parts of the South Pacific, if a basic shell cracks you can just cut another one.
