That's true. Both have medicinal uses. Only kava is non-habit forming. Only kava has thousands of years of history as safe recreational product.

The very fact that they're selling K@ in a bar suggests that it's not for medical use.
Yeah, nobody is going into a bar to buy medicine and nobody is running a bar to sell medicine. I don't think anybody here is advocating for K@ bars. For what it's been traditionally used for (pain relief, anti-diarrhea and a stimulant for manual laborers) it does has a long history of safe use, though.

Ever wonder why some people buy Starbucks every day? Caffeine is addictive. I'm not in favor of banning K@ or coffee. Just pointing out that addiction is a powerful way to ensure repeat customers.
It is. Though, with the Starbucks example, I think a lot of people go in for the sugar addiction lol.

In the kava industry, we have lots of people working hard and talking about how to ensure the kava is safe, clean, and so on...

Where are the harm reduction people in the kr@ industry?
Since the government prevents any official regulations it's got to be done at the community/consumer/vendor level. There are communities much like this (not reddit) that will vet vendors and hold them accountable to certain standards. It's important for the vendors to make relationships with the plantation farmers or harvesters (since most of it is wild harvested in the jungles) and ensure they are getting a quality and safe product as best they can. It's always best to buy from low volume/high quality vendors who are typically small business who only employ a handful of people or are family run. Vendors who you will know on a first name basis.

There's a substantial number of kava bar owners and kava vendors who are also online K@ vendors, using separate sites.
These aren't the cream of the crop. A K@ vendor wouldn't have the best kava and a kava vendor wouldn't have the best K@. It's important that the vendors have knowledge and experience to know what makes a good or bad product.
