What's new

What are you brewing today?

50 g Boroguru was nice but not quite "enough" I'm going to try making a stronger batch of Boroguru tonight. Last night this is what I had:

18 g N@H Fire Island (about 6 tsp)

2 packets Land O' Lakes Arctic White Hot Cocoa Mix

500 ml warm water

It's interesting that Fire Island is also about 3 g per teaspoon, that seems to be a good average for instant kavas. Kava root seems to vary a lot in density depending on the type of kava and the grind.

Fire Island mixed with the white cocoa is possibly the tastiest mix I've had yet, but the bitterness of the Fire Island does trigger a little bit of a gag / shudder from time to time. Fire Island is not as strong as BKH Green which is not as strong as N@H Shaman, so I suppose "strong" in my world probably refers to DHM content, guessing that Fire Island is more of a high kavain kava. I think it would be a great weeknight mix or even for a shell or two during the day.
Started this batch for later today:
75 g BKH Boroguru300 ml warm water300 ml coconut water
The Blender Bottle works great, especially for instant kavas.  To get 600 ml of liquid in it with kava, though, you have to set aside 100 ml, mix the kava with the liquid, then open the drink top and pour in the remaining 100 ml, so basically it's just barely big enough to make a batch of kava for one person.

Today I'm mixing up this brew:

40 g BKH Boroguru

30 g HKC Tuday

3 g lecithin

600 ml coconut water

200 ml warm water

I forgot that I had the HKC Tuday. I found the Boroguru by itself to be a bit mild with more volume per weight, plus I ordered 1 Kg of it, so I'm using it as a base for all my mixes lately.

Today I'm drinking borogu and tongan pride in 2% milk. I've got a KBR's fiji waka coming next, so I'm looking forward to trying something new! Which higher DHM kava do you recommend? I haven't tried as many on that side of the spectrum, but I think it's about time to branch out.

To be honest when I think high DHM kava I think KBR isa/tudei, have you tried that stuff? I personally love it but, to be honest, I haven't ventured TOO far on that spectrum either. I've only tried tudei kavas that I can think of, on the DHM scale. I love tudei kava.
Unless, chief's jungle from N@H continues to be one of my favorites, I can't remember if that one is a high DHM kava... but I love that stuff! Full body sedation! Great stuff.

But let us know how you like the borogu! I'm drinking some Fu'u for the first time tonight so I'll be on here later tonight as well :)

I haven't tried KBR isa/tudei. I went to order some last week, but they were out. Chief's jungle is the only that I've tried and it's a lot for me. I don't actually mind the taste and I like the smell. It's great for when I have trouble sleeping. To be honest, its easier for me to justify KBR and borogu because of the price.  Let me know how the Fu'u is. I haven't tried it, but I've heard nothing but good reviews.

Agreed, I'll be sticking to BKH and KBR 'cause of price as well.

The thing I like about tudei, which many don't actually care for, is the sluggishness. There isn't much 'kava euphoria' in my experience with many tudei kava, it's just a real deep tissue massage and I sleep like a baby. Very sedating. As for chief's, yeah, that stuff is potent. But, you know, I found that typically heavy DHM kavas are just that way, best described as 'a lot going on'. But I love them. If you do try the Tudei from KBR, let me know how ya like it. I know vekta loved it, it's just potent stuff. It's the only kava I've had besides n@h Solomon Islands kava that had a unique empathogenic effect.

I didn't actually try the Fu'u by itself tonight, I'm currently drinking a mix of Fu'u and Boroguru, mmmmm. This stuff rocks, nice milky coco-y color, kind of peppery, almost pepperminty taste that, referencing vekta's review of it, I'm guessing is coming from the boroguru. Very nice 'kava-euphoria' and sharp mindedness going on. A+ mixture in my book. I'll have to buy more panty-hose before I try the Fu'u by itself though, that is one fine grind. Almost looks like an instant kava with how fine it is.

So tonight I opened my bag of Vanuatu isa/tudei from KBR and it's just as I remembered it. The resulting grog looks like a hot cocoa, and almost smells chocolaty. but I've been eating chocolate all day so, that might be it. Anyway, I remember what I love about this kava, that deep tissue soothe, I missed it! But, I also forgot how nauseous this kava is, agh, I've got two shells to go and not sure if I can make it with 'em. It's still kava-licious though :D

I'm drinking Fiji Waka with 2% milk. It's my first time trying Fiji Waka and I like it. It maybe the perfect stress kava for me. Makes me tired and a bit euphoric. I wish I'd waited a little to drink it though, because I don't really want to go to sleep yet.

KBR Isa/Tudei and BKH Boroguru. Whooooo man if you can stomach that potent peppery, minty, earthy taste of those two combined, you'll love the effects. Very nice, can feel it warm my arms and legs, my eyelids feel nice and heavy... sleep will not be an issue tonight.

Few shells of Fiji waka with my girlfriend, she actually finished a whole two shells this time around! Round of applause. Gonna go watch the meteor shower tonight with a few buddies and call it a night. I've missed this fiji waka, it makes me so lovey. lol. We shall see if the same effect is observed in my female companion (smiley: wink)

(smiley: pimp)

EDIT: I also just read that the lateral roots contain the highest concentration of kavalactones. Not sure if that's true, but, I totally feel it.

i'm mixing up some HKC regular kava (really like it) with KBR VAN3, the newest batch. Very nice although the last VAN3 was stronger ime. I was krunk when i first tried it.

So I mixed together 4 tbsp of Boruguru with 4 tbsp of Fiji waka to about 3 cups of water. This is instantly, hands down, my favorite combo. Tastes awesome I think, the 'low' earthy taste of fiji waka seem to bring out the 'high' pepperminty taste of the boruguru. As for effects, that's where it's awesome. Totally relaxing, melt into the chair your sitting in, accompanied by a nice soothing euphoric warmth... all after 1 shell. It's niiiiiiiccccceeeee.

My favorite combo so far. woohoo

Whose Fiji waka was it?  Last night I had some Fu'u, during the prep I shook it for a total of 120 seconds and used 45 C water.  One thing that impresses me with Fu'u is the decrease in the amount of solids, I strain out much less than I put in, so I think a lot of it suspends or dissolves in the product.

1tbs, Wow! +
1tbs, KBR V3

A daily kava drinker, I am trying to decrease my evening brew from 3tbs to 2tbs.  2tbs worked great yesterday.

KBR, sorry. and it was awesome. Left me kind of groggy this morning though(smiley: eyes) Oh well.

I know what you mean by the Fu'u, but really, I don't even strain that stuff... lol... I just put a tbsp in a shell (sometimes in a shell already filled with kava(smiley: happy)) and chug.

Wanted to unwind after a strenous workout today, mixed 3tbsp of Van3 to 3 cups of water, and added about 1tbsp of coconut oil.  Typing this with a  huge kava grin on my face.  (smiley: happy)
