I can't stress this enough - I've tried everything on the market for dermo and nothing works like this - I think it's because dermo (properly: kava-induced ichthyosis) is caused by down-regulating the skin's secretion of sebum – and lanolin literally is the product of sebaceous glands – it...
Great post - i'm also in the same situation of trying to get the most out of my kava due to my location in the world! I've tried a bunch of methods but not this one - I usually boil and blend but the think starch-heavy liquid, as a result, is incredibly difficult to strain - I've gone through a...
We need to start lobbying the gov for a change in the law. However unlikely it seems Poland and Australia have relaxed their laws recently - so there is some hope. They're both countries with very strict laws on psychoactives too. Maybe that old picture of the Queen drinking a shell could help...
I'm also on a break at the moment but for dermo related issues ... can't wait until I can start shelling again! But, like you said, perhaps not everyday!
A finer mesh will help. It also helps to take coconut oil daily, and I've found that vitamin B and E tablets help keep the worst of the dryness at bay. Plus phytoceramides but they're a little expensive. Other than lotion the only thing you can do is take regular breaks and cut down on your...
I'd add my voice to straining - I used to use toss and wash, but it's not good for the stomach or for getting dry skin. To avoid waste you can freeze the leftovers from straining and re-use a later time.
You could try but it might be a pain to clean afterwards! I sometimes use a hand-blender in a saucepan if I don't have access to a proper blender and that works fine. You'll need to experiment to find the best method for you. Everybody has their favorite!
Welcome to the community! You've got a great journey of peace and happiness ahead of you with Kava. I can also recommend the blender method with straining afterwards if you're feeling a bit lazy. Traditional is the most popular on these forums - but I love blending with a bit of hot/warm water...
I don't really like it. I've tried it a few times but it makes me wired, jittery, unable to sleep and... erm... highly constipated. Thankfully Kava does none of these things. In fact, pretty much the opposite in all cases!
Shaking/stirring is the best way I think. Kava is essentially a solid suspended in a liquid - it's not dissoluble. Although I find if you make it very thick then it'll hold particles more uniformly.
I had to cut back from daily use because I was getting really underweight - I didn't realize how effective Kava is as an appetite suppressant! Surprisingly it took a week or two of abstaining for my appetite to really come back full force. This and the dermo means I can't really be a daily user...
