Member Soapbox Inner Stoner Gets the Better of me, Time to fast.

So last week and for the past few weeks or even months, I have done either Kava or Alcohol every damn day. From Thursday to Saturday, I got into the Red Wine in a serious way. On Sunday, I was feeling it. I was sluggish and spacey. I did some Nene to sleep and the next day I still felt the same. So on Monday, I fasted. No kava and no alcohol. I feel better today and I think I will shoot for at least a 3 day fast. After that, I'm cutting back on both kava and alcohol to smaller doses. I know lots of people who don't do kava or alcohol and it's amazing that they seem to cope just fine in the real world. I guess they don't have an inner stoner like us guys. So I'm going to ignore that little guy who lives in my brain and try to keep him at bay. And by the way, my inner stoner always gets unleashed during the holidays so I have to prep for that.

On a related note, I borrowed a green smoothie book and I'm going to go into it nice and easy. Probably in conjunction with a high fiber diet. Honestly, alcohol is what puts the pounds on me and I'm going to go super easy on that. It's not just the alcohol, it's the appetite that comes with it. So I guess I'm trying to detox before the Holidays. I'm not perfect but I'm going to try. One more thing, for you guys who get into the green smoothies in a very serious way, please google "oxalates". Rotate your greens and go easy on the almonds. Like someone said, animals who eat leaves rotate their diet because they sense that it's dangerous to get fixated on one type of food or green.

Makes sense.. good luck Deleted User01. I think what you call innerstoner is the same thing as me. I think that way as well. Luckily it's cannabis and kava that I do this with. Although I mix them as well haha. But I found that yesterday I was like hmm should I drink since I don't have kava or have some K@ haha... both are bad ideas for me, alchohol not so much but I don't like alchohol very much at all. K@ sounded great but I just don't wanna possibly get watery eyes tommorow (today).. aka wd symptoms cause I haven't had it in months... but I decided to just smoke my ganj and continue on through the day haha.

I've been going a little lighter on dosage and spacing my time in between kava out a little more. I use it daily and there is that fine line between keeping it in my system and being non-stop krunk. Now I do like a little krunk in the evening and on the weekends but I just want the anti-axiety effects during the work day.

@Mrbinx69, I never mix kava or alcohol in the same day but it still has a cummulative effect on my brain. Sometimes I see posts where members are complaining about being fatigued or spacey. When this happens, then it is time to fast and then to cut down the dose. One of the symptoms for me is that my fingers will type weird words that my brain didn't send. At that point, I can see the disconnect and I know I have overloaded my system. I'm sure people on long term meds feel the same thing. So just keep an eye on it and don't let your poisons effect your productivity. Anyway, a little fasting is all it takes to set it right. It's not like I'm going to quit or anything. As the Valley Girls say, "As iffffffffff".:D

I just saw your post @Squanch72. You're doing the right thing. Just monitor it and don't let it effect your productivity. We want maximum benefits with no ill effects and sometimes we have to walk a fine line.

Yep a little fasting and having some vittles straightens me right out. And realizing that small shells are all you need lots of times for medicinal purposes.

I've got exactly the same problem. I think I put on 20 extra lbs while fishing up in Oregon (mostly booze related). I know when I use only kava, I can really lose some tonnage. So I'm pledging that starting today, I going to be your dive buddy so we can both lose (weight that is).

Hedgie (@HeadHodge), it's a deal! :D Let's show these whippersnappers how it's done (since we always seem to have to get it done). Let's tell these Whippersnappers not to binge like we do. Yeah, do as we say, not as we do. ;)

I definitely feel cumulative effects when I stick to heavy kavas for too many consecutive days. It's harder to wake up and get goin', sluggishness creeping farther into the day, somewhat foggy headed, concentration feels elusive and chore-like. A 3-Day break clears it up fine, feels good to lift it and then start fresh. Unfortunately my cleanest state still feels surprisingly shitty, something similar to a sedentary obese man with diabetes, I imagine.

Still, it all pales in comparison alcohol hangovers.

Tommorow will be my 3rd day off of kava and I consume moi mainly, and I feel more alert already. Thats the best thing about kava and cannabisioso is that both when you take a break you feel better than if you had some and better than if you never had some in the first place . It's like sleep. Lol sleep too much and you feel groggy . Sleep to little and you feel horrible.. sleep then wake up just right and you feel amazing :)

One teaspoon matcha . Half a cup hot water. Half a cup milk and poorer over ice into a new glass omg.... so freaking good. Makes not having kava okay. Until I start mixing the two :) then I'll be spoiled

Come'on Man! @Shakas, how can your cleanest slate feel like a 400lb guy with diabetes. (And I say that with all due respect to all the members who suffer with Obesity and Diabetes). That's like someone on death's doorstep. (see prior statement). If it really feels that bad, then you need a new plan.

Hyperbole aside, my cleanest state is not great, definitely not 'normal', certainly below average...not horrible but livable at least...not really suffering, relative to how much worse things could be, obviously. I appear healthy and fit from the outiside, but that doesn't translate into feeling good/healthy on the inside as it seems to for the bulk of humanity. I often use extreme examples of obese dudes and eldery coal miners to describe how I feel because their typical complaints often sound the most similar to how I feel.
Sometimes I read things that make me think I should try to quit sugars, other times I see stuff that makes me think I might have candida in my gut...or maybe I'm one of those gluten people ? I don't know, but I'm finally really going to the doctor this friday, for the 1st time in about 20 years. I'll be interested to see what comes of it.
My issues were set in stone prior to ever drinking alcohol or kava, so sobriety doesn't whip me back to any former glory like it might for someone who caused a deterioration of their health through drug/alcohol use.

Ok I am ready for more kava as my morning small shell wore off and I am excited for more in a few more hours.
I hear you Shakas with my chronic migraines and chronic sinusitis causing and/or in addition to general malaise I feel I am turning into a slug. Been seeing all kinds of specialists for years and two sinus surgeries and still no relief. About a year ago I broke down and had my doctor do all these extra blood tests on me for lyme disease, spotted mountain, etc. Found I was low on vitamin D and testosterone. Months of expensive testosterone shots and my levels barely increased, so no luck fixing that. They are still trying to pump my vitamin D up enough. Luckily I found kava and that keeps me positive and actually doing more things than I used to. Problem is if I am krunk then laying on the couch is nice and not as boring as it is when I don't feel good and I am on the couch. So maybe I am still on the couch too much LOL.

I am one who needs kava to keep me going, I came to kava for anxiety but quickly found some strains help with my Chronic Fatigue... Though I do find that going heavy every day can have the opposite effect. @Squanch72 @Shakas ... You two should definitely try Calm Mate from KKRUS .... When my system just doesn't want to go, it puts some pep in my step except on my severe days which I then take a break from it.

What strains have you found to help with fatigue?

@Deleted User01 Tell you what I do. I'll eat a healthy breakfast and then just not eat lunch. By the time 5 pm or 6 pm rolls around my stomach is pretty much empty. Then I'll squeeze out 5 heaping teaspoons of kava root and in 30 minutes and two washes later I have a nice batch of brown drank. And I drink it all down at once on the empty stomach. That does two things. It keeps my weight down, and it maximizes the kava effects when I am ready for my evening kava. And, I'll do this almost every day. I really should cut back and skip a week or two, but late every afternoon I find myself wanting my kava time again. Now, don't get me wrong. I do love a good micro brewed ale. Adam Bomb is one of my favorites. What I don't like is the weight gain and the sluggishness the next day. Kava is better.
