The problem is that public perception is important, and the perception of K@ is negative.

See this post from a few days ago relating the situation in Sweden:

I don't think many on here have any real objection to people consuming K@. We're just worried that when the crackdown on K@ comes (as it did a few months ago), kava could be hurt by association.
I think most of us want kava to have good public perception. That post is actually a good example of what happens when bad people (shady vendors) do things to tarnish it. I'm assuming he is referring to the 9 people who died in Sweden after taking "Krypton K@", a product labeled as K@ but also containing large amounts of O-desmethyltramadol which is more potent than tramadol itself. The amount of O-desmethyltramadol contained was enough to cause an opiod overdose but because K@ was on the label (O-desmethyltramadol was not), K@ looks bad and news headlines incorrectly blame it for the deaths. That product alone accounted for the majority of deaths the DEA listed in their reasoning for attempting to schedule it as a controlled substance.

With so many kava bars selling K@, maybe it would be good to have a FAQ on the forum to explain the differences to people who haven't done research? Maybe the forum could convert the word K@ to "mitragyna speciosa" in users posts (I'm assuming that's possible since it used to change it to K*****) to allow relevant discussion but not come up in google searches for K@. Just some ideas.

If @Bula Kava House wont answer how his experiment went here, maybe we can start asking him on facebook? We are his loyal customers, and I think we should know.

Edit: His facebook page looks as if he's trying out different options of drinks which is a good sign

Bula Kava House has responded via conversation. I will paraphrase them as to not go against his wishes.

Currently plans to continue selling K@. He said he averages about five cups of K@ tea per day to adults who specifically know what K@ is.
