Holy crap. I think my little instant kava venture needs a bit more work before I even think of selling it....that is if I can come up with a sustainable way of producing an amount that would even be marketable. I know where I'll be asking questions. Thank you, gentlemen.

TylerKTB - thanks for your comments and well thought out. One issue with the suppliers/manufacturers is their knowledge of chemo-types when dealing specifically with kava.  They follow all the GMP regulations but I have personal experience going through some tests with them only to find out their starting material was not optimum (chemotype was pointing to something "not great") ~ keep in mind that this is a 1/2 billion $$ worldwide company with R&D and testing to the hilt.

Kava is a small industry in comparison to the 100's of other herbs out there where knowledge & supporting clinical studies are more up to par.  Just more food for thought :)

What about the kava bars who's profits rely on K@. What incentive do they have for ceasing the sale of it?
well, that's when we go godfather on their ass. They'll wake up with a severed stem of their prized K@ plant in bed next to them.

Why are so many of you against K@ and kava being served together. They go together really well. And it's not illegal to sell. I still don't understand why it's so as not intended for human consumption. Maybe Tyler can clarify that.

It's addictive. Causes withdrawal. FDA might have their cross-hairs on it at any point, and we just don't want to see kava knocked around with it.

I don't have anything against K@ at all and actually am very interested in trying it sometime. The reason is, is because K@ has taken more heat from the man than kava has and I'm sure there are people who are lobbying right as we speak to try and ban it. It's basically just to keep them separate that way if some shit were to go down regarding K@ there's no tabloids mentioning kava along with it because then your average American middle class family with 2.5 kids isn't going to do research as to what kava really is and will just assume that it's bad. Guilt by association. And I don't believe that K@ is bad, it's just that the FDA says it is and wants it gone. If they had a K@ bar, I would go check it out; as long as it was exclusively K@ that way there not casting a shadow on kava. I just think that because we are dealing with two substances that the FDA doesn't like, one more than the other (K@), than we should keep them sepperated that way if one goes down it won't drag the other one along with it.

Cocos if you scroll back through this thread, tyler touches on the not for human consumption aspect. It involves lots of rules and regs regarding the sale of herbs and supplements. And honestly I believe it would be best for both kava and K@ in the long run if both were kept separate. The longer K@ keeps a low profile, the longer it will be kept available for its therapeutic benefits. I hate seeing things like K@ showing up in head shops and such. I believe certain marketing aspects will lead to its early demise, i.e. salvia.
