Kava Success Stories

@Ceraton's thread got me thinking. There is a thread on another forum I post on for CPAP machine users about success stories, how CPAP machines have changed your life and so on. So I thought it would be nice to have one here to collect them all in one place, to motivate newbies into giving kava a serious chance.

I'll go first. Since I started drinking kava instead of alcohol, I've lost about 65 pounds, going from obese to normal weight by BMI. I sleep better and I have less anxiety. My life has improved measurably since I started drinking kava.

How has kava changed your life for the better?

Great story there, @kavadude . A pinned post even, Cool. Well since I started drinking Kava. I have been able to stop taking opiates, as I was highly addicted. I have also been able to taper My valium down to almost, 2/3s my regular dose. Also After quitting smoking, I find Kava has helped with the occasional craving I still get. Much Love. Roaddog.....

I was sober long before I found kava but I was on some painkillers for foot surgery for a while then found out they missed something in the surgery and had to go back in so I went on another round of opiate. Needless to say I was a little edgy after coming off them. I found myself having racing thoughts and cold sweats. It sure as hell wasn't full blown withdrawal but it was an uncomfortable place for me. I looked to the inter webs and learned what I could. Bought some capsules and started the journey.

Over time I found that kava helped so many other aspects of my day to day life so I kept learning and exploring. Then I found you guys and life is good!

Great stories all. I have also cut way down on my drinking, my blood pressure has stabilized, and I have gotten rid of the "Nervous Nellie" complex. My favorite saying is straight from the Alfred E. Newman book of Proverbs, "What me Worry?".

My success story with kava starts about 9 years ago when I first began taking kava to help with my continual anxiety. I started with the Gaia Herbs Phytocaps. At that point I had no idea about reverse tolerance. The Gaia Herbs caps eventually broke me through my RTs. I was driving my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) to my parent's house. I had taken 3 capsules as part of my daily routine before we headed out. About the time we arrived at my parents house I was overwhelmed with a deep feeling of peace and relaxation coupled with good feelings and talkativeness. I knew that kava had more to offer and that I should delve deeper into the kava world. At this point there was no kavasseur blog, and no real mention of kava on the internet other than the obligatory "liver warnings".

After the capsules I moved to kava king powdered kava.
Some of you old timers will remember this square tin can

Man was that a powerful kava. One tablespoon was enough to nail me to the couch and obliterate my feelings of anxiety and restlessness.

I continued to drink kava king's original powder for about a year until they went belly up and sold to a different company. After my real introduction to kava I began searching for it online more, and found Nakamal @ Home. I began purchasing Stone as my daily kava. At this point I also began to prepare kava in the traditional manner with the paint strainers offered by N@H. I also was drinking my kava warm. This was also the point at which I felt the true, unabridged, full force that kava truly had to offer. I knew more people had to know about kava, they just had to. To have something non-addictive, with no withdrawal, and 100% natural? Too good to be true? Nope, it's kava, and it is true.

I had problems with social anxiety and poor overall sense of well being. Also I was overweight. After drinking kava daily for the first year I can say my social anxiety was nill, and all of a sudden life took on a different tone. It was if someone had taken a file and some sandpaper and smoothed out the jagged edges of my life. I was finally able to work with life instead of always suffering from the "Grass is greener on the other side" paradigm I had so lovingly adopted. I was able to open up, and talk with people on a completely different level. I was exposing my real self instead of some made up identity that I created to make sure you like me. Also I lost about 30 lbs which was unexpected, but definitely an added plus for kava.

A positive benefit that continues to show itself is the ability that kava has given me to truly let things go that are not important. Instead of dwelling on negativity kava enables me to just drop it. Completely. This one is massive for me. Before kava I would fixate on negative things for so long it would make me feel physically sick. I allowed problems to occupy as much real estate in my head as I could give them. With kava, this is no longer an issue. I look at a problem, identify it as an issue, deal with it, and move on.

My success story also most definitely includes you all, this forum, and the positivity this forum exudes. Never did I think we would be as large and prominent as we are. Every single person who signs up here, posts, or just lurks is part of our collective kava success story. The more people we introduce to kava, the more we add to it.

Overall, I love kava, and this forum, and everyone here. Kava has changed my life for the better, and continues to move in that direction.

Nice story Kapm. I also started with the Gaia Phytocapsules and I send my leftovers to a member and some to Deleted User for testing. I used to squeeze them under my tongue. Good way to get started. I have noticed that when I take Kava, I'm quite the social butterfly not to mention a budding comedian. :D Kava really does a good job of breaking your "give-a-shitter" and letting you relax and be yourself. As you said, highly recommended for social anxiety. Perfect for meeting the in-laws. And no I won't be giving up my day job to be a full time social butterfly and comedian. I only play one on the Kava Forums and you guys put up with it.

This is a great thread and I really hope to get the chance to write my own entry in here someday soon as I just recently started taking kava to help with high anxiety and panic attacks, as well as avoidance of things that have been bothering me in my life.

Again, I am hopeful that I too will have my own success story but for now I thoroughly enjoy reading the entries already here.

An undiagnosed learning disability that wasn't found until college made life in grade school, middle school and high school miserable. According to people that knew me back then (that I still talk to) I was very difficult if not impossible to get close to socially. There has been a lot of guessing and speculation about why or what caused it. I don't think it was any one thing but a combination of things. I was in therapy a couple time for various things when I had medical insurance. Those dealt with the symptoms but never even got close to addressing the potential causes. Prescriptions where mentioned once or twice but never perscribed. The fact of the matter was I was living with a lot of things that made everyday life for nearly 15 years difficult to face every day. Much of that time was without any professional help.

Fast forward to college. The social anxiety was getting worse. I was starting to have disabling panic attacks more frequently. Sometimes I would have an attack and isolate myself for 3-4 days in a row. I was fortunate to have a very understanding professor. I told him what was happening in a brief email and he gave me the week to sort myself, make up test and no lab work penalty.

I spent the week searching for something that wasn't a prescription or illegal....or dangerous. I started reading about Blue Lotus but that didn't work out. After that I stumbled across kava, the kavaisseur and the yuku forums many of us remember. My first kava experience was a bag of Black Sands Borogu from N @ H It was after this that I was also diagnosed with a learning disability that has to do with working memory. (I'd have to dig up the details again)

The results were like night and day. I still have social anxiety, panic attacks and sensory overload. It wasn't a magical cure. But Kava has reduced the impact social anxiety has on my everyday life, easily, by 80% after about a month of regular consumption.

Kava is the only way I can tolerate life in the United States of Breaking News. At the end of the day, I need Kava. Preferably before dinner I have two shells, and that really takes off the load. Then after dinner I go to town on a liter or so.

When I'm in one of the countries where I work - Ghana, South Sudan, Ethiopia, etc. - I often find myself quite at peace. Of course, when I can get Kava in Africa it is divine. I remember drinking it with a chief in Ghana. He was disgusted and then "got it."

Good timing on the thread, I'm only a few days away from being benzo free for two years. I'd been taking valium for many years and was stuck on the bottom end of a taper when I found this Forum in late 2012. Two months of GAIA capsules, then a switch to traditional prep, and I haven't had a single pill since Dec 2012. Kava has been a complete game changer for me, I've gone from a life where I could barely function to one where I'm more active and happy than I've been for a long, long time. Many thanks to God, and the fine members of this Forum!
Such congratulations to you! I am too coming up on 2 years, free from alcohol. Kava has given me what 12 steps could not, a biological weapon agaisnt the cravings. I LOVE hearing these success stories!

I'm very impressed with all your success stories::chugger::. Can't yet tell one of my own, but it helps me enormously with socialising even many days after I had some. The world would be a so much better place if kava was sold in supermarkets!
And another one of my favourite smilies: ::chugger::

Well, I passed the Microsoft 685 this Monday. I haven't taken the 680 yet.

I also have the A+, Network+, Security+ from CompTIA, a CCNA in Routing & Switching from Cisco, and the MCDST from Microsoft. The secret is kava, kava high in Desmethoxyyangonin.

Kava's not my #1 "herbal savior" lol but it's done some good things for me. It's allowed me to combat anxiety where nothing else could, and it was the final blow for avoiding benzos for me, before kava I was still needing my prescription maybe on a weekly basis. It's also allowed me to be social in even the most anxiety provoking situations. My perfect first date with the wonderful girl I have been with for a year was made possible by BKH's instant green kava ;)
